Greasy Hair!!!!

Question Posted Monday April 24 2006, 5:47 pm

I have very oily hair. Thing is I wash it everyday, so I don't know why this is happening. Anybody have any ideas or ideas of products I can use to reduce the grease. Thx in advance & I promise to rate.

Actuallly, you should try washing it less. Try only washing it every other day and brush you're hair a lot.

Well, try using a different shampoo and not so much conditioner. Also, scrub very hard with the shampoo to get it as clean as possible. When all the shampoo is out your hair should feel rough and thats when you put the Conditioner in. Dont put a lot. Onlu put a little. Also, try reducing how many times you brush it and touching it becasue the oil in your or somebody elses hands get stuck in your hair and creates grease. Same follows as the brushing.

=] Good luck. ♥

This sounds weird, but don't wash it as much. When you wash your hair it is stripped of all it natural oils and therefore thinks it has to produce more. I used to have extremely oily hair, but then I cut down the washing to once every two days, instead of every day and it got better. The first few days like that are pretty gross, but once you get over that the oil goes down a bit. If you use shampoo/conditioner for normal or dry hair then use shampoo for oily hair. The only thing I can really reccomend is to wash your hair less. You can still shower everyday, you just don't have to wash your hair. It may sound a little gross to you if you have always been taught to wash you hair every day, but it works.

Look for a type of shampoo called "clarifying" shampoo. Many different brands have a "clarifying" product in their line-up We use Suave.

Also, as someone else mentioned, vinegar works wonders, and helps with dandruff too.

I use apple cider vinegar. Just leave it on for about 5 to 20 minutes (depending on how bad things are) and then rinse it out and wash as usual.

You should only have to do that about 1 to 4 times a month, but your mileage may vary. ;-)

One more thing, if you are using conditioner, either stop using it, or only use it on the very tip ends of your hair. Don't let it get near your scalp.

Well one reason your hair is greasy so fast and all the time is because your warshing it to much. I mean take a shower everyday but skip warshing your hair like twice in the week. Washing your hair everynight drys it out and causes it to become greasy faster. Yea you may think its gross to skip a day washing your hair but its not healthy for your hair to be washed every day. Also the head and shoulders shampoo works really good i use to use that stuff. Hope it works out.

herbivore answered Monday April 24 2006, 6:54 pm:
hey. i used to have this problem also. what i found that works is if you use products that can remove some bad oils from your hair. i know that brands such as dove, pantene, garnier fuctis, and aussie have such products. you should use any conditioners when you take a shower because it will increase the oil. you may think that if you scrub your head more and harder in the shower tha you are getting the grease out, but you arent, you are making it worse. the best thing is to do is to apply the shampoo and to massage your scalp with your fingertips. rubbing vigerously will stimulate the oil glads in your hair and cause them to create more oil. you can also blow dry your hair to dry it up a bit. hope this helps!! :) ♥ ♥ ♥

i have very oily hair too!! what you can do to reduce this is putting a little vinager in a cup of water and put it on your hair, its going to smell, but it will help a lot. the other thing you can do is wash your hair with baby shampoo. it may sound silly, but it will help.

hope i helped! = ]]]

I have the same problem. I know this might sound weird but go to Wal-Mart and ask for the horse shampoo "Mane and Tail" it will make your hair extra soft and not as oily. It also helps your hair grow stronger and faster! It's cheap and lasts a really long time! I use it and it works wonders for my hair.

I use Pantene Pro-V shampoo every day because it makes my hair so full and fresh, and never greasy. I also heard Dove works really well on hair, and keeps it looking its best for all styles. Also, try not to use a lot of hairspray, gel, whatever you use, or it'll turn up really greasy and gross looking. Something I don't really understand is when girls wet their hair to try to stop frizz, which just makes it look so much worse, so if you do that, please don't. Talk to your hair-stylist about different shampoos and products to use if nothing changes about your greasy hair.
