flyingg is fine! i've been on an airplane many times. i like flying and i think its fun. i love it because you go faster than driving in a car, and it's kind of thrilling being up in the air. the only things i dont like is if the bathrooms are gross, but most times they are ok, and if you fall asleep in an uncomfortable position and you wake up with aches hahaha. if you fly, just enjoy it - there's nothing to worry about.

My dad works for Delta; so I fly all the time.
I love to fly, especially being up in the air, the view up there is breathtaking. The only thing I don't like is sitting down for 3 hours on the flights.

If you were to fly, I would say to bring:
oo1. Gum, your ears may pop on takeoff/landing due to pressure changes and it may be uncomfortable. Chewing gum during landing/takeoff wont make your ears pop.

oo2. Plenty of stuff to do ( magazines, CDplayers, etc )

oo3. Jacket/sweater, planes can get cold.
oo4. Small snacks or drinks, if you sit in Coach, you wont get a meal ( depending on the airline company)

Hope you have a safe trip :)

Flying is great, the best way to travel, I love it so much I've started taking flying lessons. Planes get you places more quickly than any other form of transport, it's safer, the food is generally ok, depending on who you fly with, and duty free is brilliant.
If you're going short haul, you don't really have much time to do anything, so take a book or a magazine. Long haul you usually get in flight movies and programmes to watch, you get fed and watered, the toilets are not great though. Be nice to the flight attendants, I've heard some horror stories of what they can do if they're upset with a passenger. Take some chewy sweets or gum for when you take off and land as the change in air pressure can make your ears feel weird for a while. Most airports have high security now so get there at least two hours before you fly and be prepared to take your shoes off to go through security, some even want photos and iris ID pictures, so you do need the extra time. If you or anyone travelling with you has difficulty walking, you can ask for a transporter car to take you to embarkation, and for an extra fee, you could also use the luxury lounge with free tea/coffee/snacks/newspapers, and board first. This saves you having to wait around in line with everyone else.
I guess one of the most unpleasant things about flying, (if you don't have a strong stomach or nerve), is if the plane hits an air pocket or bad weather. Air pockets can cause the plane to suddenly fall a distance and bad weather can cause turbulance. The pilots are well used to all this so can handle it but it can make some passengers panic.
On top of all that, the arrivals department has to be one of the best places to be, everyone is so happy, the atmosphere is on a permanent high. So go enjoy the experience and have a wonderful time. Just be prepared to get hooked. Good luck.

I love flying!!!!!!!! I absolutely love it!!! I can never wait for my next time to go on a plane, which is going to be in June. (But anyways... That's just me...)

What I love about flying is the way you can get places fast. I mean, before to get from New York to London people had to take ships and that took a few days. But now you can take a plane and get their in a few hours. I love taking off as well. I love the feeling of just being on the runway, then going up, up, up and continuing!

I hate the food... Plane food, in my opinion, sucks. My sister told me that Air Canada has terrible food, and that is saying something because she normally ADORES plane food. I don't really like landings, because I get a weird feeling in my stomach. (like the one when you are on a roller coaster and there is a drop)

My advice to you is to
1. Get a window seat.. Great view..
2.If not possible, get an aisle seat because being stuck in the middle is the worst.
3. Bring something to entertain you (magazine, dvds, laptop, music..etc.)
4. Be nice to the flight attendants becasue remember your life is sort of in their hands, so you really don't wanna act stupid.
5. If you are scared, don't voice the way you feel with children around. It just causes a big problem.
6. Buy stuff at the airports. It's totally fun!!
7. If you go on Jet Blue, get the chips. I heard they are really good.
8. Get to the airport early!
9. Be prepared to go through serious security. In some airports, you have to take off your shoes.
10. Have a blast!!

Hope I helped!
Ke

make sure you bring gum to chew when your taking off... flying is really fun, once you get up in the air its sort of a shock but then you get used to it. what i love about flying is when you travel over different types of lands, you see it all. you just get a real good view from up there. definetly bring some music, book or something to do, because it can get pretty boring. well theres nothing i really hate about flying, well maybe the noise the people can cause but other than that nothing really. the first time you take off and land, can be a bit frightning, but once you get used to it, it can be loads of fun!

First of all it is important that you understand that rumors about airplanes being unsafe are completely untrue, especially since 9/11. you have absolutely nothing to worry about with fellow passangers i travel often and the security is unbelievable. And you might go through some turbulance, it is scary because the plane shakes a bit but you must trust me that it is normal and the pilots are trained to drive in such conditions. So do not think bad thoughts while aboarding, or on the plane because they are unbelievably safe. safer then a car, boat, or train according to statistics in the New York Times.

Now i just felt that was necessary to add because when i first started using planes as transportation i was a bit nervous about these issues. now for the ups and downs of airplanes.

Ups.
- Airplanes are extremely safe and a comfortable way to travel.
- I wouldn't be the only one to say i love airplane food. ahaha it really is good.
- with a good book, music, or a movie they play for your entertainment you are completely relaxed and do not get motion sickness like you would in a car.
- the pillows and chairs were made to be the as comfortable as possible, and they are!
- looking out the window is always more interesting when your looking down on everything.
- the airports have tons of stores you can go eat at or shopping at while waiting at the airport, they have everything!

downs.
- Since the security is so thurough, it takes a very long time of waiting and carrying around your luggage, in fact i would suggest leaving for the airport 3 hours before aboarding your plane.
- sometimes the airport will lose your luggage, it happens. But it will be returned to you within a couple days.
- The toilets tend to suck the water down really quickly and loud, so don't be scared.
- sometimes you have to share the plane with, well, annoying people.
- If you are easily scared, the turbulence might bother you a little bit.
- YOUR EARS WILL POP. SO BRING GUM TO CHEW ON.

have fun on your ride and wherever you are going. good luck =]

Flying isn't such a bad experience. The thing that I found surprising when I first flew was that is wasn't all quiet and smoothe like in the movies. It can get a little bumpy and loud. The whole process is quite simple and they kind of herd you through it. You get to the airport and check in your baggage-either inside or outside. Then you get a boarding pass and get to your gate. When it is time to board, they will call you by section to get on the plane. When you land, you get off the plane and follow the line to baggage claim. Some good advice would be to be sure and have all your documents, ID, and tickets in one place. Bring some gum to chew so your ears don't pop, and bring something to keep you busy while you are flying. Good Luck!!

so did i get marked down in ratings because i had a messy advice column? (by the way, thats the look i was going for - its not quite as messy as my room though ;)

because of the elevation, your ears get plugged. So bring gum and chew it right when the plane is taking off. That will help prevent your ears from getting plugged. Once on my way home from Mexico, there was a baby that sat behind me. The whole way home I couldn't sleep- it was a 4 hour flight. Now whenever I hear a baby cry it seriously freaks me out. =[. Ask for a pillow when you get on the plane.

*EDIT*

I'm so sorry! I forgot to read the advice part so I guess I kind of took it like a survey.

Anyways, some things I can tell you are that the airplanesget boring if you're on them for a long period of time.

So it's great to bring along magazines, books, ipod, laptops, cd players. These will keep you entertained. DVD players are especially good because you can watch your own movies without interfering with others. Usually they provide movies but you may not like that movie. And movies take up a good two hours.

But if you can, I would try to go to sleep. (This is if you have a long time on the plane) If you sleep the time goes by so much quicker. So if you're lucky enough to sleep on planes ( I can't) you should.

Get a window seat if you can. But keep in mind this is if you're not afraid of heights. The scenery is so amazing and probably different from anything you've ever seen.

Bring your own food and drinks if you don't want what they serve you. Sometimes they're not as good as you think. LOL

If you are going on an airplane with your friends and family you can always talk to them to keep entertained.

If you're going on an airplane by yourself it's always easier to follow the crowd once they get off of the plane. They know where they are going. And where the luggage pick - up is and from there you'll know what to do.

Before you get on the airplane is the hard part. Going through security and baggage drop off is a bitch. But always bring a photo I.D. of yourself and obviously don't wear much jewlery or carry weapons.

Again, I am really sorry. Hopefully this gives you advice. Just so that you know what to expect. Take care and have a safe flight!

I've been one an airplane about 6 times.

I think that my first time on one was scary because I was only 6 at the time. But once I got on it I found it to be enjoyable. I sat next to a magician and he was entertaining.

But right now I love to go on airplanes because they're less time consuming and they go pretty smoothly. I'd chose it over riding in a car.

Advantages:
* less time consuming
* love looking at the clouds and place from far
away
* the ride is pretty comfortable

Disadvantages:
* my ears always kill me once we land because
of the different elevations
* a lot more people to deal with such as little
kids screaming or crying.
* the waiting time sucks because they usually
leave and arrive 15 minutes after they say so
