You should consider both options, and talk to students in the Latin class to see if the work load is heavy or if it might too hard . Also think about which language will help you later in life . Only YOU can make this decision, so make sure you sit in a Latin class before choosing.

Hope this helps !

latin maybe a cool language but its extremely hard, i am currently in my 4th yr of spanish and i love it. Seriously more spanish signs and stores are comming out each yr and the immigration rate is really high. Spanish looks amazing on a resume and for college. Spanish is the best choice, taking both will confuse you

Latin is a good language...esp as most ppl don't consider to learn it..I mean you'll b e soo unique. However doind both is quite a pain in the butt! Lol I do french and spanish and it's tough to keep up unless you think you could. At end of terms I mix up soo much that I've decided on jus french...but in the end it's your choice

Learn Spanish, go to Spain and meet some hotties! Learn Latin, go to Rome and meet some dead politicians... your decision.

Latin can be interesting as many words in English (as well as all Romance languages) have Latin roots, and if you're interested in etymology you'll probably like it. However, it is an extinct language so you won't get to speak it. If you've been taking Spanish for a year you might as well continue unless you don't like it - at least you might have a chance to speak it.

Are you studying it at school or outside of school? If both languages are offered at your school and you have the option of taking both, then I would recommend that you learn both, unless you know that you aren't that good in languages and that grades will be a concern (if you like languages enough to be considering learning two of them, I guess that probably won't be the case), or if you need to choose other subjects according to what you want to do when you finish school.

If you're learning it outside of school, then the main thing you need to consider is time. Do you have the extra time?

Either way, it is OK to study two languages. Confusion between two languages is unlikely to be a serious problem unless you're starting both at the same time, but if you've already done a year of Spanish it should be alright.

If i was you, i would deffinitly do spanish. It's a lot more useful that latin in the real world, but it really depends on what you plan on doing later on in life. Latin is harder than spanish and it would probably take longer to learn more than it would spanish, but really it's up to you!
good luck

well, to be realistic, it's not likely you'll learn latin like you can learn spanish. a lot of that is because it's not a living, breathing, spoken language anymore. however, i don't discourage you from learning a bit. a little bit of latin is very, very useful when dealing with spanish words you don't know, and even english ones. i know at my school they offer a latin vocabulary class as an elective, but i don't know what they have at your school. if you want to do some independent study, utilise your friends google and wikipedia. ^_^

hope this helped. bona fortuna!!
