Can it be for ages 12-16 PLEASE?
kristen22 answered Thursday April 6 2006, 5:54 pm: I used to love (still do) all book by R.L. Stine, by the time I was 16 I had read every book he had wrote, I could read a book every 2 days. He is a awesome author for young kids and teenagers. R.L.'s books are read all over the world. So far, he has sold over 300 million books, making him one of the best-selling children's authors in history.

However, I can give you some ideas atleast.
The Lord of the Rings - J.R.R. Tolkien
The Hobbit - J.R.R. Tolkien
Any of the Harry Potter books
The Chronicles of Narnia - C.S.Lewis
to be quite honest, those are the only books I have that would really work for "12-16" year olds (though there are some out there who are reading this stuff, like I was). So I will list other books that I really like.
1984 - George Orwell
Animal Farm - George Orwell
Any story by H.P. Lovecraft
The Aenid - Virgil
The Odyssey - Homer
The Illiad - Homer
The Metamorphosis - Ovid
Salems Lot - Stephen King
Pet Semetary - Stephen King
Paradise Lost and Paradise Regained - John Milton
The Art of War - Sun Tzu
Beowulf - Unknown
The Silmarillion - J.R.R. Tolkien
Dracula - Bram Stroker
Frankenstein - Mary Shelly
Any story/poem by Edgar Allen Poe
Black Hawk Down - Mark Bowden
Flowers for Algernon - Daniel Keyes
The Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams
The Meditations - Marcus Aurelius
Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea - Jules Verne
Band of Brothers - Stephen E.Ambrose
I believe that is all I can list off the top of my head. But hopefully atleast a few of those will catch your eye. All of em are really good books in my opinion (1984 is my favorite book and H.P. Lovecraft is my favorite author) so something should catch your interest.

NinjaNeer answered Wednesday April 5 2006, 8:35 pm: Well, it all depends on your level of reading... the ones I'm going to suggest are all adult books that are relatively age-appropriate, because I've been reading adult books since I was 10 (missed the teen book phase!)
Sci Fi--
Nightfall by Isaac Asimov : It's about a world that lives in perpetual light, and what happens when the inhabitants experience darkness for the first time.
Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card : About a boy who is sent to a battle academy in space, has an AMAZING ending.
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy : Absolutely hilarious, a hundred times better than the movie.
Other--
A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry : A great book about the caste system in India... very long, but absolutely amazing
White Oleander : About a girl who goes through the foster system after her mother is imprisoned.
Watership Down : A really good book about a rabbit warren, it relates really well to human society.
aprilxo answered Wednesday April 5 2006, 8:22 pm: I don`t read that much, except for required reading in school. I`m in the 8th grade.. but I`m in all the scholar classes. Anyways, I liked Night by Elie Wiesel. Oprah talked about it on her talk show, and it went to the number one best selling book in the country or something. I`m not sure. I`m sorta rambling but that book was really really good. [ aprilxo's advice column | Ask aprilxo A Question ]
