It totally depends on the girl and their age whether you are after a relationsip or a quick shag etc.
Generally id say:
- a bit of self confidence without being cocky
- a good sence of humour
- respectful
- not being too lazy helps
- honest
- willing to compromise

Every girl has different things they look for in guys.
I look for:)
Hot eyes
SMile
Big hands.
bigger then me - as in not stick skinny
short hair - brown or black. Blonde is not exactly hott.
Hopeless Romantic
Amazing Personality
Can have fun. and make me laughh
Hasnt cheatedd before.
Darker skin.
And their clothing style
Thats about itt.

Well, for each girl, it's a whole differnt ballgame. ;)
Like, for me, physically, I look for a guy who's taller than me by a bit (at least 5'8", I'm 5'), who has a great smile, and I'm not really attracted to blonde hair at all.
But I don't focus on that stuff.
I focus on whether the guy is positive, has relatively good grades, smiles a lot, makes funny jokes (these days, making jokes just isn't good enough...), and is basically fun to be around.

Obviously it will vary from person to person, so I can only tell you what I'd PERSONALLY be looking for.
Although looks would come first, if I got to know someone amazing it wouldn't matter what they looked like. So although looks attract me, I wouldn't stay with a guy whose personality I didn't like.
In looks I like guys to be taller than me, with dark hair and green eyes, like skinny goth guys. However I am ACTUALLY going out with someone the same height as me, he's not skinny and he has blonde hair and hazel eyes! Thats coz he's the best guy I've ever met.
He's considerate and asks me if I'm OK if he's not sure. He always tells me he loves me. He's outspoken and has a loud personality, and he doesn't mind if I'm quiet or have nothing to say. He makes me laugh even though his jokes suck. He's an interesting guy and can talk for a long time about his interests. He likes to take me out for meals now and then, even though it isn't necesssary.
He's not what I ever expected I wanted to go out with. I imagined seeing punk or goth guys, and having a really rock n' roll love life. But he fulfills all the things I really need from a guy, and I know I could talk to him about anything. He really respects honesty, so we're honest with each other. That kinda thing!

Every girl is different. I, personally, would like a man who:
-Has a sense of humor.
-Has the same basic morals as I do.
-Is not a jerk.
-Will willingly get a vesectomy for me, because there is no way I'm ever getting pregnant.
-Is romantic.
-Is liberal. Well, actually, he could be my political opposite, as long as he wasn't a racist or a homophobe or an animal killer. So, um...a liberal. Yeah.
-Has a job that doesn't keep him away. My dad is in that situation and it's not pleasant.
-Wants to adopt a maximum of four children.
-Isn't allergic to cats or dogs.
-Has a sex drive.
-Is in tune with his inner Goddess.
-Is educated.
-Isn't a rapist, serial killer, bigamist, or pro-life.
Uhm, I think that's about it. This is just for me personally, though, and I've been told I have pretty high standards.

It TOTALLY varies girl to girl! I almost started making a list of what girls DON'T like, but I realized some of them will like whatever I put down.
All I can tell is you what I like, but of course, that isn't a very large representation. Intelligence is a big thing with me. I like smart guys. It makes me drool everywhere when a guy can talk to me about physics. I also like someone who can accept my weirdness and play along with it without looking weird themselves. :P Make sense? No? Good. All the stuff that the girl at the bottom listed is true, too. Well, most of it, for me. Physically, I love red hair, long hair, not too skinny and not muscular at all, taller than me, nice smile, black, blue-green eyes...
I really place WAY more on personality than looks, but that is definitely not true of every girl. Some girls just want a hottie.
It's going to be different for everyone. Just be yourself and I promise you will appeal to someone. (Or several someones ;)

ok every girl is goin to be different, personality is a big thing. and apearance deosnt hurt. Its really important that you respect her and your not a totaly dick. a good sense fo humor, considerate confident adn a few tattoos wouldnt hurt ;)

Well, I can't tell you what ALL girls look for, but I can tell you what my friends and I all look for :)
Pretty much, for looks anything goes, but cleanliness is important :)
Personality is the big one here... Here are the major positive attributes:
-Sweet
-Great sense of humour
-Ability to laugh at self
-Intelligence
-Drive (Work ethic) and direction in life
-Doesn't mind looking a little weird or stupid in public
-A little on the dorky side doesn't hurt!
