Cartilage Pierces

Question Posted Friday March 17 2006, 10:37 am

sorry about spelling, but I am really considering getting my cartilage (spelling?) pierced around my birthday day (July 1st) and I know this is a stupid question but how bad does it really hurt, and I don't really remember getting my ears pierced because I was young. And also when you do get your cartilage pierced how long do you have to keep it in? Well, thanks and if theres any other information about getting your cartilage pierced please tell me

It doesn't hurt. Your ear will turn red and feel hot afterwards. I had mine done, but it got infected and had to get it removed. Quite a few people end up getting it redone because it gets infected pretty easily. You have to keep it in I think for a few months before changing it.

Hey!, yeah I got mine done, well the actual peircing doesn't really hurt maybe a slight sting, but it hurts to touch it or sleep on it for a few weeks. You have to keep it in 8-12 and clean it everyday! Good Luck!

well the accually piercing doesnt hurt at all. the only time it really hurts is when your sleep on it and it hurts bad for a while but you get used to it. and you keep it in for 12 weeks or so but you can leave it out for a long period or time (more than an hour or so) until about 8 monthes

For me, it didn't really hurt at all. You just sort of feel the needle go through your ear and then it gets really warm. The healing time varies from person to person, mine is 6 months, my friends got 4 months and 2 months. Its different with everyone. After getting it peirced you should probably go home and take asprin right away. It will probably sting, but it really doesn't hurt that much. You should follow the cleaning instructions that they give you, otherwise there is a good chance that the piercing will become infected and thats not nice. Hope I helped.

I have 10 piercings.. 3 which are in the Cartilidge area... it really doesn't hurt that bad... yes its a little sting thats it.. you have to keep it in 6 to 8 weeks... I advise you to only do one side at a time.. and do the side you don't sleep on 1st because when you lay on the piercing it moves and it scrapes the inside of the piercing to create a more tender area that takes longer to heal... when you get your cartlidge done its basically a situation you have to keep it because when its pierced it forces the skin into the back of the ear to create a bump and it will be there for basically ever..

Hope I helped,
Jamie*

It stings alittle but thats about it. Now it does hurt if you get it done in the ear you sleep on so be careful and good luck!!

hey,
The farther you go up the ear, the more feeling you have, so yes-- it will hurt more then the part you already have pierced. But if you really want it, i'm sure it will be worth the pain. As for keeping it in, the professional who does it will tell you. It's USUALLY around 6-8 weeks. Make sure you don't take it out before then, because it can get infected really easily which would not be good. Also, clean it with the solution they give you(if they don't give you one, try rubbing alchohal)every day for the first few months that you have it.

hope i helped♥

I have mine done. It pinches just for a minute and it's over. Leave it in no less than 12 weeks. That's all there is to it. Oh, and make sure you clean it twice a day! If not, your ear will get infected. Also, after you get it done, be gentle with it. It's a lot more sensitive than your lobe.

Depending on how you handle pain..I handle pain pretty good especially piercings..&& Honestly i think it hurts..I mean not just for the time being of it getting done but for a good month or so..It hurts to sleep on your ears, press a phone against it or if like your hair gets caught on it..

If you get it professionally done they`ll say 12 weeks but in opinion you need to keep it in for a good year in order for you to take it out with out closing..

I think its a very cute piercing && is worth the pain..But like i said it depends on how you handle pain..

I got my cartilage pierced years ago...I had to take it out because it got infected, but my body rejects everything so I wasn't surprised. It didn't really hurt that much. It hurt more than a regular ear piercing, but not unbearable. Another thing...Some people still get their piercings done with piercing guns. This is a really bad idea. You should get it done by going to a tattoo/piercing shop where they do it with a needle. Cartilage piercings take longer to heal than regular lobe piercings. Here's a website with a little info about it -- [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

XOXKAYLA answered Friday March 17 2006, 12:58 pm:
well i didnt think it hurted at all. i seriously didnt feel it that much. i think there is only a certain side they will peirce it on. and ive had mine for like 2 or 3 years and i dont even put a earing in it any more but if i wanted to i would go through no trouble what so ever getting it back in.

When you get it done, try to sleep on the oppisite side it is on. Because it will earitate it and it will either get infected or hurt really bad. When you get it done the people should give you some stuff to take care of it. its really simple. i NEVER put the stuff on, and yet i still never got an infection. but i wouldnt take the risk.

it is painless unless you do something to feel the pain. i promise, you will be happy and you will think " that was nothing " then i thought it would be. and i always thought when i was scared of something i knew couldnt kill that i shouldnt be worried.

good luck, be strong !! it wont hurt
