Question Posted Saturday February 18 2006, 6:28 pm

I've just started to make love with my boyfriend, and I have a vague recollection from my sex education classes at school that when you become sexually active you should have a check-up, examination etc. Is this the case? Thanks!

Yes, this is the case indeed. Stay safe, ok? Make sure the check-up is regular.

when you become sexually active, you should see a gynacologist. this may be embarassing if you dont want your parents to know but it is a neccesity to prevent stds, infenctinos and such!

For the girl, yes. See the gyno, but the gyno might tell your parents cause the gyno can tell if your a virgin or not.

YES. You can never be too safe when it comes to sex. Both of you need to see your doctor and get checked for any STDs. Don't hide anything from each other! You need to tell him what your doctor said, whether you're fine or if you have a disease, and he needs to tell you as well. You should also talk to each other about past sexual history--if he's had sex with somebody else, you need to know.

yes thats true. Really when you turn 18(if you arent sexually active) is when you should be going for annual check ups, but yes when you start having sex no matter what kind of sex, you should have annual check ups with the doctor.

Hope i Helped! !

First of all, I think you should figure out your boyfriends past sexlife (if you don't already know it), did he have sex with anyone other than you? If yes, than for sure get a checkup. Also, depending on your age, Ive heard that at 18 its usually a good idea to start having checkups and I would get birth control and use condoms(yes do both!) This is a safe way to make sure that what you're doing won't lead to disaster, just fun. Hope this helps!

TheOldOne answered Saturday February 18 2006, 9:25 pm:
First, make an appointment to see your OB/GYN (or regular doctor, if you don't have an OB/GYN - but you REALLY should have one). Do it before making love to your boyfriend again.

You need to know your options for birth control and (possibly) disease prevention, and your OB/GYN can provide all the information you need - plus, of course, the birth control itself.

Otherwise you're at serious risk for an unplanned pregnancy. Don't wait.
