Ive been anorexic only for a few weeks and Im supposed to get my period and Im not. What happens if you dont get your period? is it unhealthy? can it affect having babies in the future??

Once someone is truly anorexic - not just for a few weeks, but in a diagnosed, ongoing, mental illness - it is extremely hard to recover from and has a low recovery percentage. It's not just a chronic, manageable illness though - if left untreated, an anorexic person WILL die.
Your period not coming is a definite sign that something is not right with your body. This is probably the fact that you are not eating enough food. Rather than worry if your period is a dangerous thing to skip, realize that it is a huge red flag and your body's way to tell you that things are not working.
You will not be able to have children in the future if you're not alive, after all.
At this point, you need to speak to a therapist as soon as possible to get help early.

Once you stop being anorexic (if you don't die first), your body will gain an incredible amount of weight, fat weight, mind you, an dit will store it in case you ever become anorexic again.
x_mystery answered Wednesday February 8 2006, 8:47 pm: Not having your period is a sign that your body is already shutting down.
But other than that, not having your period doesn't make you unhealthy.
Being anorexic is whats unhealthy. You need to stop, and if you are past the point where you cannot stop on your own you need to tell a parent or counselor.
You may think that this is going to somehow help you with what you're unhappy with (Usually your weight) but in the long run, it will not. You have the chance of getting extremely sick or even dying when you are skinny, and if you don't die from that and you get over your anorexia, your body will be very out of whack and the chances of you gaining more weight than you started is high. The way to do it is through sensible eating and exercise. Thats all. I don't exactly know whats going on, but just for you I'm going to whip out one of my favorite quotes that may have an impact on you as it did me, and maybe see why Anorexia isn't the path to anything good or right.
"Hey girls, you're beautiful. Don't look at those stupid magazines with sticklike models. Eat healthy and exercise. That's all. Don't let anyone tell you you're not good enough. You are good enough, you are too good. Love your family with all your heart and listen to it. You are gorgeous, whether you're a size 3 or a size 14. It doesn't matter what you look like on the outside, as long as you're a good person, as long as you respect others. I know it's been told hundreds of times before, but it's true. Hey girls, you are beautiful." - Gerard Way (Lead singer of a band called My Chemical Romance) [ x_mystery's advice column | Ask x_mystery A Question ]
