Ok well I just gauged my ears, theyre 18s I guess? That is what the person said. So I was wondering what that meant? I don't understand the differnce. And also, why are they so small?! Normally they are huge and when I told the guy I wanted to gauge my ears he gave me these. Somebody help I am really confused.
Thank you in advance!
Sarah

lol he would have told you everything that i or someone else would tell you that knew about them.
18s are the smallest gauges you can get.
18 is the size of the gauge. as you get bigger the numbers get smaller.
like mine are 14s.
i had 18s but then skipped a size and put in 14s.
you cant just all at once have like..a size 6 gauge that would hurt like crap!
like for example..when i put in my 14s i skipped a size so it was kinda to big for my ear and the hole ripped a little when i put it in. it didnt hurt cause im good with pain but it might hurt you idk so just stick with doing the sizes. unless your good with pain.
also theyre all even numbers..
he/she basically gave you the 18s because your just starting out im assuming. so yea next time you go in ask for 16s and keep counting down untill you get them to the size you want!
and also next time if you have any questions ask them! 8]
good luck!

You want to gradually work up to a larger gauge so your skin has time to expand to fit the new ones. [ thewonderchef's advice column | Ask thewonderchef A Question ]
a normal earring is size 18, and the bigger you go the lower the number (18->16->14->12, and so on) but you have to start with normal(18) and then go step by step, 16 first, then 14.....
if you want to skip sizes you can but it will hurt, alot.
Advicelady6798 answered Tuesday January 17 2006, 3:14 pm: Ok the higher the gauge the smaller they are going to be. The sizes go from 18 down. 0 is pretty big my brother has double zero and you can stick a highlighter through his ear. Slowly go from gauge to gauge it is less painful. x_mystery answered Tuesday January 17 2006, 12:30 pm: I'm not entirely sure what you're asking, but with ear gauges, you have to start small and work your way up. The next size you should go to to make it larger is a 16, then a 14, 12, and so on. You cannot start out really big as it will tear your ear, so you start small and move your way up, size by size.
BabbiD0LL answered Tuesday January 17 2006, 10:26 am: They give you small ones because you get a small one and work your way up to the larger sizes. 18s are the smallest size you can get.

When you get your ears pierced (normal earrings that you can buy... anywhere) they're 18 gauge.
When you want to get larger, you should get a pair of sixteen gauge earrings. Then fourteen, etc. I'm not sure really the difference in the width, probably no more than a milimeter or two, but that's a lot for a hole in your body...
