i just need a way to shed a few poundsim 13/m like 118 pounds 5'5 i know it doesnt sound bad but i want to be able to see my abs like i can see them but not good i just wanna loose some body fat in the stomach area
hugsNkisses answered Friday January 6 2006, 8:11 pm: i definitely know the feeling. try doing some crunches, especially the kind where you put one elbow to the opposite knee and vice versa. also you might want to join a gym and go a couple times a week just to make sure you stay in shape instead of gaining it back. dont lose too much weight though, youre perfect the way you are!

The key to being able to "see your abs" is not losing weight; it's having toned muscle.
Alin75 answered Thursday January 5 2006, 1:26 pm: Ok, first thing first, just so you are aware there is no way to target fat loss from your stomach (or anywhere else for that matter). This is not possible as our bodies dont work that way (contrary to popular beleif, particularly on this site). Doing ab workouts may therefore add definition by building muscle, but wont make you lose weight from that area.
Now, losing weight you can do in a number of different ways. First, you need to know how many calories you are burning. This varies from person to person, and is based on weight, age, activity level and so on. Below is a link to a great calculator: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
(For your stats you burn about 1450 a day just by being alive, and on top of this you must add your activities... even things like reading). To lose weight you can either drop the number of cals that you eat by say 300-400 below that number, or you can increase your excercise level.
When it comes to exercise, resitance training is the most effective (e.g. weights). Aerobics have little to no effect on the metabolism, while resistance training gives you a boost which allows you to burn more calories even in your sleep. Of course, in your case its not too serious so just pick what you like best.
Another important thing is to eat many times a day. Try to fit in 5 or so small meals. This will also have a positive effect on your metabolism.
Of course remember to eat low on fat (particularly saturated), moderate on carbs, and high on greens (if you do weights then also high on protein). Eliminate the extremely unhealthy foods altogether, such as; soda, cake products, candy, chips, and white bread. Then just try to get in 30 minutes to one hour of cardio vascular work out each day. Some examples of that would be: jogging, running, walking, bicycle riding (stationary or otherwise), jump roping and so on. Crunches would be a good idea, to enhance the abs, too.
