jesa21 answered Tuesday January 17 2006, 4:15 pm: well, wild kittens, can be tamed, i have one whos now two and spoiled rotton. but... you will have to catch them. get them inside and force pet them, if the mothers not in the picture this will be much easier, because theyll be hungry you may need your moms help, with this, dump a can of tuna(in water not oil) on a paperplate, get as close to them as you can, you want them to smell it, at some point they should be within reaching distance. go for the back of the neck an snatch them up that way. if you have more than one person, try scaring them towards the other. also this may sound awful, but if you can reach one grab it, even if you get its leg or tail, dont drag it by it just hold it long enough to get the scruff of the neck(the fat on the back of the neck)its going to hurt to be held by its leg or tail for a second(get the scruff as fast as possible dont prolong the pain) but it wont cause any serious damage at all, once youve caught it have it inside nice and warm an feeding it that monentary pain will be long forgotten.the reason i say if you want them, youve got to catch them is because the longer thier out and the older they get the harder it will be to make pets of them. my cat was an abandoned kitten, i caught him in the woods by literally chasing him, when i got the chance i grabbed his hind leg an then his scruff, took him home in a coat, he was so starved all i had to give him was half a can of tuna, and hes been purring ever since. also note if the mother is around only go for the kittens when shes not be very careful, wild cat mothers will tear you to bits! good luck! BoxerxCutie answered Wednesday January 4 2006, 4:44 pm: You need to put milk out for them and check and see if any of them are drinking it, it has to be warm milk tho b.c their still kittens. They really need their mom but since they dont have her jus warm milk. If they are little little kittens dont give any meat or anything b.c they cant digest it. They are just scared and afraid of you. If you can't get them out after doing that ask an adult for help. Or you could call and explain to the spca what has happened and tell them they are strays and that you would like to take them in and ask for advice on how to get them out. Well i hope i helped

ncblondie answered Tuesday January 3 2006, 11:47 pm: If you can, try getting down on their level. It will make you seem less intimidating to them. Keep your voice level low, reassuring, and on the same tone. Get some pet treats and kitten food to try to tempt them out. You can also put a bowl of food just slightly out from the porch and gradually move it closer to you until the kittens are comfortable with you. Another option is to tempt them out with a toy or some string. They probably won't come out to start with, but if you're patient and keep trying, they'll learn that you're not to be feared.
I got a new cat a while back who immediately hid under the bed and refused to come out. We finally managed to tempt him out by rattling a bag of treats and dangling a string under the bed until he decided to chase it. Good luck. [ ncblondie's advice column | Ask ncblondie A Question ]
