smallbutsweet90 answered Monday November 28 2005, 9:46 pm: Coke= calories, Diet=caner
weird i know? diet coke actually can give you cancer many test have been done, now it wouldnt really effect you unless you drink 2 or more a day. If your looking at the calories and carbs and sugars, water is def. your best choice, it might not taste the best but you really get used to it. i used to drink coke all the time and now i mainly only drink water and seriously lost 5 lbs. gatorade or powerade are also really good choices. taste good, and are pretty good for you =)

Mercy_x_Me answered Monday November 28 2005, 9:44 pm: First of all, life is short to begin with. My friend && her family has been thriving on diet soda for years now...so if it hasn't killed them I dont know who else it could kill. I mean, you never really know. I LOVE soda too and I still drink it but I found an AMAZING alternative is Fruit2o, or any sparkling flavored water for that matter. They have really good flavors like cherry && strawberry and they have that fizz to it just like soda...it's the perfect thing to drink in lieu of diet coke. I know Walmart carries sparkling flavored water like Fruit2o but really cheap if you wanna check that out. It has no calories or sugar or any of that!
Good Luck! (And by the way...soda every now and then will NOT hurt you...just limit the amount you have is all, dont let it be the only thing you drink) [ Mercy_x_Me's advice column | Ask Mercy_x_Me A Question ]
mpmsweetie answered Monday November 28 2005, 9:31 pm: nooo. dont worry, nothing really will give you cance no matter what. But in my opinion practicly everything CAN give you cancer. haloguy answered Monday November 28 2005, 9:19 pm: Diet Coke is sweetened with the sugar substitute splenda, which is derived from sugar. If it were sweetened with equal, you would have good reason to worry. However, splenda is easily the best sugar substitute out there, and isn't going to give you cancer. Besides, unless you drink 20 diet cokes a day, there's no reason to worry. [ haloguy's advice column | Ask haloguy A Question ]

zapreth answered Monday November 28 2005, 8:54 pm: When Neutrasweet was put in Diet Coke the rate of Multiple Sclerosis nearly doubled in the female population. None of the sweeteners on the market are truely safe or properly tested includeing the old stand by Sacrine. Sacrine testing in links to cancers have never been proven to conclusion because the lab test results have not been consistant. That said, yes carbonated drinks in general a terrible for your health. Water is truely the best thing for anyone to drink. Healthy alturnatives to diet and carbonated drinks? Unsweetened green tea, organic soy milk without carageenan a known carcinogen, and no sugar added fruit juices in small amounts. You truely can develop a taste for water and it would be in your best interest to try. Good luck! [ zapreth's advice column | Ask zapreth A Question ]
Erinn_the_bamf answered Monday November 28 2005, 8:52 pm: No, it's not necissarly going to give you cancer. They've been doing some testing on rats and that's what turned up. But it could. A healthy alernative is flavored water. It is very good. Some juicies are good for you though. Try orange juicie or pinaple juicie. And natural fruit juicie is good for you. Don't drink punch or CapriSun or something like that. I hope I helped! [ Erinn_the_bamf's advice column | Ask Erinn_the_bamf A Question ]
russianspy1234 answered Monday November 28 2005, 8:40 pm: heres the thing. diet coke contains saccarine a sugar substitute. it has been linked to bladder cancer in labrats when they consumed it as 5% of their diets. i dont remember the exact number but it came out to something like 1/144,000 people, will get bladder cancer from drinking one can of diet soda a day. double the number and double the chances. there is also a rare desease called phenylketoneurea, which amongst other things turns your pee black. having it causes phenylalanine, and ingredient of diet sodas, to poke holes in your brain. now there have been studies, but so far inconclusive, that say that its still back for you even if you dont have phenylketoneurea, it will inhibit brain growth, which grows until around age 20. now when i weighed all these facts i decided that overall regular soda was safer, and tasted a hell of alot better as well. you should try regular coke, or even better pepsi, and cut the few calories youll be saving somewhere else if they matter that much to you. i dont know if all, but most sugar sugstitutes are made from saccarine.
