I kno periods are different for every girl but when I first got mine i was at home and i was in the 8th grade. It was so light i didnt even kno i had it. If your a small person (like me) yours will most likely be light at first & for a while.

Your doctor could be right becaues I know people that didn't start until they were 16 or 17 or even older. Consider yourself lucky though- you don't have to deal with the cramps & PMS! Anyway, don't be embarrassed or scared, every girl goes through this in their life and you'll be fine. A way to be safe if you start in school is to take a pad or tampon in your purse everyday, so that way you'll always be prepared. ♥

Durene answered Tuesday October 18 2005, 2:05 am:
Woah, I got mine when I was 10. o_o;

Seventeen?? I thought the oldest you could be to get your period was like.. 15 or 16. Boy, that sucks. Also, by the time you're 17, people will probably be mature about it. D: If not, go right up in their face and say "Its a natural fact of life, deal with it!" all smart and stuff. XD

Don't worry grl!! I don't have mine either.
When you first get your period all you'll have is a tiny red spot on your panties. But if you are still worried, keep a few pads handy everywhere you go. You'll be fine!!!!!!!!

Solution, bring extra pads to school. Put them in your backpack, and if you feel a little wetness than go to the bathroom, if you got it just use the pad. That was my mistake when I got it the first time, I didn't bring pads to school and I got it. Just my luck that exact day we had to go to sing at Roswell Cancer Institute! I just used toilet paper, it held up untill I got home, but I really wanted a pad then. So just bring some to school. That should solve the problem.
Good luck hun.

XxRockon answered Monday October 17 2005, 6:03 pm:
aw don't worry at all hun! When you get your period, its only a small amount, because it starts off pretty slow. It wont' be like gushing out of you lol, and if you feel like you might get it sometime soon, lik you have cramps, or you feel like your breakig out a little more or someting, put on a panty liner so you won't get it on ur underwear..and your doctor is pretty accurate most of the time so im sure you have plenty of time.

ShortLitLBlondie answered Monday October 17 2005, 6:01 pm:
ok if you get it at some random time it wont matter cuz it'll only be a little bit at first so by the time you get home u can jus take care of it then. so dont worry about it.

well you dont have to worry about being embarrassed. When your period starts you will feel like a wetness in you underwear. It wont flow so much that it will show through your pants . dont worry about that. If you feel that wetness go to the bathroom and check it. Always keep a ad with you just in case that way if it happens you will be ready. I have started my period in school before, even in class. My periods have never showed. You have nothing to worry about. Actually you can tell if you are getting ready to start beacuse you will feel cramps like stomach aches like every day or you will bloat. Its something that makes you look fatter.

Teza answered Monday October 17 2005, 5:39 pm:
You will get signs when you are about to get it. And when you first start you won't leak really bad. You will just get a little blood on your undies. Before you get your period you will get signs of discharge. Which is white stuff that comes out and it's natrually healthy so you have nothing to worry about. You will know and you won't be embarrased. Just carry a small tampon or pad with you at all times.
