"Idle" means that they have not touched a single thing having to do with their computer for the past (typically) 20 minutes, or so. Basically, it just assures you that they are not SITTING INFRONT of their machine, is all.

you havent touched a key or the mouse for however many minutes that you selecet in your preferences, its usually about 10. usually its like if they are gone, like they have up an away message, but sometimes they are still on the computer. but if they leave the computer, and no one else is on it, and then nothing is touched, then that is usally when!

if you wanna know anything else at all, just ask!

It means that you're inactive and have been away from your computer from a certain amount of time. If you're away but still using your computer, you're not idle.

You have not touched AIM in the last 15 minutes, be it bringing up to screen or checking a profile or sending an IM.

Idle means to be inactive. So, when someone is inactive on AIM, they go Idle.

Being idle means the user hasn't been active for the last ___ minutes. This is helpful if someone forgets their away.
