Today I did crunches and it really hurt my neck. I think that is a sign that I did it wrong...or is that normal? I've recently started working out, like really recently (this was only my 7th time) and I was wondering is it because I'm getting used to it now, is it because I'm doing it wrong or something? I did 70, btw.
Tony answered Monday October 3 2005, 3:39 pm: An easy way to not hurt your neck is to put your hands behind your head the trick is dont lift your self up with your arms because thats not doing anything for your abs if your neck still hurts after using that technique you should see a doctor [ Tony's advice column | Ask Tony A Question ]
X0C0URT answered Sunday October 2 2005, 1:37 pm: You must be doing something wrong. You are probably curling your neck in rather than crunching straight up. Try this: When doing cruches, pick a spot on the ceiling and don't take your eyes off it. That prevents you from curling your neck. This should help! :-)
Igotamonopoly answered Sunday October 2 2005, 10:39 am: You're doing the wrong. Use your hands to support your neck but keep your elbows parallel to the floor. Looking straight up helps too. Don't do so many at once. [ Igotamonopoly's advice column | Ask Igotamonopoly A Question ]

MsGolightly answered Sunday October 2 2005, 1:11 am: I'm NOT a fitness expert, but you should start slower with your exercises, you could really hurt yourself. I'd say slide back to about 20-30, and let your body get used to that, instead of being already up at 70 so soon. [ MsGolightly's advice column | Ask MsGolightly A Question ]
