Ugh.
I definitely know what you mean, my school does the same shit. Unfortunately, you can't graduate high school without physical education.
Work on finding a way to change without having to take off all of your clothes.

get a note from your parents excusing you from PE or just start wearing a tamp. also you could just wear a wet suit instead of a bathing suit, or a whole piece if you want.. hope i helped!

Well you an wear a wifebeater and board shorts over it. And the tampon can mess up something, but it is very unlikely unless you leave it in overnight or something. Good luck! Hope I helped!

Well first of all ; it's perfectly okay to wear a tampon. Just don't keep it in for like more than 5 or 6 hours and right after you get outta the water, go and change it. And I can understand the whole changing infront of people and wearing bathing suits in fron tof them. What I do is I just wear my towel around me or I just kinda jump in the water really quickly but now I've kinda just gotten used to it, cause I just think there's a buncha other girls there doing it too and they're probably all uncomfortable too, so it's normal and I shouldn't worry, the class'll be over soon. And maybe for changing..do you have bathrooms in your changing rooms? ( we do so heres where I got the idea ) maybe change in the stalls. That's what I do. I hope I helped!

Love,
MELii

Well, trust me tampons are perfectly harmless as long as you don't keep them in longer than 5-6 hours. Make sure right after you swim you change though because if you don't it could get really iritated. And cases of TSS (toxic shock syndrome) are very very rare. You don't have anything to worry about. Make sure that when/ if you decided to try them read the paper in the box about TSS so you understand everything. As for something getting "messed up" I doubt anything serious has ever gotten messed up other than getting TSS.
And as for wearing your bathing suit in public, it's understandable that you feel uncomfortable. A lot of people do. Just know that no one will say anything and you have nothing to worry about. And it's sounds like your school is all the same sex so this way it's better. You don't have any pressure of having to impress guys or anything like that ;)

i know how you feel about the changing thing...thats not fun! your could try getting a huge wavy tshirt to change under or going into a stall if your not comfortable. im sure your not the only one that feels this way. as for your period...i STRONGLY suggest you try tampons. once you get the feel for them, youll WANT to wear them. no they can "mess you up" down there unless you leave it in for too long then you get TSS. if you wear it just for one swim class, your fine. its worth the effort. oh and i dont think youll be swimming the whole term so it may be that you wont be on your period at all during that time. (my pe classes do a different activity every 2-3 weeks...maybe youll get lucky!) so dont start freaking out yet! hope that helps let me know if you need anything else! <3

Get a note from your parents, explaining the problem, and that you dont want to go swimming, explain that you get horrible cramps or somthing and that you'll drown if you go swimming. Or just tell them that if they make you go swimming, then you'll be leaking in their pool, and that you dont think they'll like that,

Hope i helped!

You should take this to the board of education, if you have one. Noone should be forced to do something were they feel uncomfortable. And, they have to understand that not all girls use tampons! Oh, but, you can wear pads in the pool and you wont bleed, so if it does come down to you have to swim, then you can use a pad. Ok, but ne ways, deffinlty talk to either your principal or the board. And, dont be afraid to speak your mind, because this is something that they have to understand. And, dont be afraid to talking about your "girl problems" because it is a natural thing. Good Luck!!!

BecauseYouLivex3 answered Thursday September 1 2005, 7:26 pm:
So what you should do is wear your bathing suit under your clothes. And at the end you go into a stall and change out of it. But if your locker room doesnt have a stall what you should do is dry off as much as possible. Than next period go into the regular bathrooms to change. I know it make be a little uncomfortable changing in the regular bathrooms but its alot better because you have your privacy. And about tampons im not really sure what you should do. So what you should do is try using them. They should have directions on the box. Like you should try to put a tampon in. Its pretty hard at first. But you will get use to it ! hope i helped <33

Lamma - oo dont worry! we have a swimming pool too, and i was soo uncomfortable at first. but unless you have bathrooms in your locker room you can change in, you're probably gonna have to change in front of people. but there are some tricks you can do. well you know, shower in your swimsuit, and then with your swimsuit still on, put your bra on over you swimsuit. then just kinda take your arms outta the straps of your swimsuit, and slide it out. then wrap your towel around your waist, take off the rest of your suit under the towel, and put your underwear on underneath your towel. its kinda hard and takes some getting used to, but it worked for me and all my friends.

also as far as tampons, they arent bad for you, MILLIONS of women all over the world use them. they can be difficult to get them in the first time though. if i were you i'd start using them riite away, before you start PE. and this sounds REALLY gross, but your first time, if you can somehow use a mirror to see 'down there' its a lot easier. also go to www.beinggirl.com and they have a lot of stuff about tampons and your period that can help.

hope i helped, and feel free to ask a q in the future!!

GOod Luck :)
lamma

Well that really stinks! You can't get past what you have to do... I guess you'll have to go swimming. That really stinks too!! But, you'll have to work with the situation at hand. If your uncomfortable in a bathing suit, try shaping up a little bit, if that's the problem. Maybe drop a few pounds, you'll have more self-confidence in bathing suits, and feel motivated about yourself. It's perfectly healthy to use tampons when you swim, and you're going to have to learn some time!! Trust me... tons of people do it. It's perfectly fine, just practice before hand, and if you need help ask someone older or experienced for advice! You have time in advance, so make sure you work on this and don't procrastinate.

Well to tell you the truth I haven't had my period yet so I don't really know what a tampon's like, sorry =), but I can tell you that I have had gym class and it's kinda gross to change in front of other girls..so I wear my suit under my clothes all day (kida uncomfortable, but if you have a 2 piece, it's not SO bad..) and when it's time to change, grab a bathroom stall and change out of your suit in privacy. If you're changing in a locker room without bathroom stalls, I would suggest drying off the best you can, and just putting your clothes on over it. Yuck. Wet clothes.lol Good luck hun
