Mackenzie answered Thursday September 1 2005, 6:29 pm: I've also heard this numerous times before. I've found no evidence that this is true. I think the only thing this could *possibly "prevent" is a good night's sleep.
I looked online for you for some information to back up my notions:
"Bras will keep your breasts from sagging while you're wearing them - but not for the remainder of time. There is no published medical literature showing that bras prevent sagging.
Even the bra industry seems to know this, as the following quote illustrates:
'We have no evidence that wearing a bra could prevent sagging, because the breast itself is not muscle, so keeping it toned up is an impossibility. What it can do, particularly for larger-breasted women, is obviously to provide the comfort and the support. So, if a woman wants a particular breast profile, she will buy a particular brand, and that is what they're designed for. There's no permanent effect on the breast from wearing a particular bra. The bra will give you the shape the bra's been designed to give while you're wearing it. Of course, when you take it off, you go au natural.'
executive John Dixey at Bras, Bare Facts documentary.
The unspoken rules of the society may force you to wear a bra to work or to social occasions, but there's no need to wear one for the purpose of preventing sagging. It just won't work. Remember also that breasts will benefit from bra-free time, so it is good to take the bra off whenever you can."
Karen answered Thursday September 1 2005, 5:03 pm: What your friend told you is not true. Wearing a bra at night won't prevent your breasts from sagging. If you want to, you can wear one at night. [ Karen's advice column | Ask Karen A Question ]
azngemini answered Thursday September 1 2005, 4:09 pm: lol.. your friend is strange. it's your choice if you want to wear bras in bed, but it really does not help you with anything. your boobs will eventually get saggy no matter what. you dont see like women in their 50s, 60s, etc.. walking around with round and perky breasts. and by the time you get that old, you wont really care if your boobs are saggy or not. Mercy_x_Me answered Thursday September 1 2005, 3:29 pm: No to be honest, i purposely don't wear one in order for room to grow. If you have a bra on 24/7 your pretty much contained and really have no space to get bigger. And as far as saggy, it shouldn't matter, when your young it's usually not a problem and if you're wearing a bra then it's no big. [ Mercy_x_Me's advice column | Ask Mercy_x_Me A Question ]
karenR answered Thursday September 1 2005, 3:18 pm: If you want to wear one to bed it is entirely up to you. As for it preventing sagging when you get older...untrue. If you have large breasts they are going to sag as you age. :) [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]
ncblondie answered Thursday September 1 2005, 3:07 pm: Your breasts are going to sag when you get older whether you wear a bra to bed or not. It's a part of life.
Wearing a bra to bed is uncomfortable, which will interfere with your sleep. Are perky breasts worth the dark circles you'll have? Not to mention that it doesn't allow your body to "breathe."
To firm up the area and make them appear less saggy, you can do exercises that tone the muscle underneath your breasts. Push ups are a good example. [ ncblondie's advice column | Ask ncblondie A Question ]
rainbowcherrie answered Thursday September 1 2005, 2:50 pm: It is really uncommon to wear a bra in bed. Going without one at night is what most people do, it wont really make your boobs saggy to not wear one in bed. If you choose to then it will probably give you a bad back so I don't advise it but it's up to you. [ rainbowcherrie's advice column | Ask rainbowcherrie A Question ]
