Okay, for the past..6 years my sister and I have been trying to get a dog. But all my mom says is no. I don't think my dad would mind just as long as it didnt shed. She Court [[my sister]] and I have found numerous types of dogs that are SO cute AND don't shed. All my mom says is I'll consider it. It's on all of our Christmas/Birthday lists but nothing happens. We want a dog sooo bad. Please help! And by the way, I've tried to say I'll take care of it..that didnt work either =( I RATE HIGH
Additional info, added Wednesday August 17 2005, 8:56 am: I've had two golfishfish [[Romeo and Juliet]] for 3 and a half monthes now. Still nothing, and they say money doesn't matter. AskBritt answered Friday November 4 2005, 8:24 pm: Well if your mother is worried about a dog shedding than your problem is solved because some groomes including mine have this thing calle the deshedded special which is 20 $ to 70$ depending on the dogs size and hair. It lasts for about 3months and I use it on my dog. They also groom and trim and of coarse bath you dog.
I am sure there is one in your area that can do that. Well good luck, hope I was a help. AskBritt [ AskBritt's advice column | Ask AskBritt A Question ]

modelkate11 answered Wednesday August 17 2005, 1:59 pm: try pet sitting for a neighbor that you know very well. it'll show responsibility and that you really care. find a specific breed that you like a lot and do a lot of research on it. maybe you can buy a dog collar and hang it on you wall, maybe your mom will see how much you truly want one. just figure out the real reason she doesn't want a dog. maybe she had a bad experience with dogs growing up.
(maybe a small dog to start off with too)
plz rate

*ashlee* answered Tuesday August 16 2005, 11:28 pm: take her to your closest animal shelter and point out all the homeless dogs. remind her that by morning, half the dogs she sees will be dead, because theres no space. then remind her how much you love her and awsome it would be to have happy little companion. also, just prove to her your responsible. do all of your chores, and then some. do all of your homework, help her out when shes in the yard, and tell her how nice she looks. suck up a lot, but also really mean it when you say youll take care of it. you might not think its a big deal, but animals need a lot of attention and are more trouble than youd think. but its definately worth it. i couldnt imagine life without my dogs. good luck. hey try and talk her into getting a mastiff. thats what ive got and theyre the best dogs you can have. smartgirl321 answered Tuesday August 16 2005, 10:41 pm: chihuahuas dont shed. they are very lovable too. if she doesnt want to buy you a new one because its very expense, adopt one from a rescue. i work with a rescue called Chi.P.P. in louisiana. they have rescue groups all over devoted especially to chihuahuas. go to petfinder and look some up in your area. if you live close by louisiana or just want to look, here's my rescue's site: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
hope you rescue and adopt a dog.
hope i helped. good luck.

p.s. for a better chance to give your mom a guilt trip into getting one is to find out when they have adoption days and take her to look at them. [ smartgirl321's advice column | Ask smartgirl321 A Question ]
twistedteen25 answered Tuesday August 16 2005, 10:24 pm: Show your parents how responsible you are do extra chores, spend more time on your homework, read some books etc. do this for a few months ( if you've been waiting your whole life for a dog a few months shouldn't be a problem) so your parents won't suspect anything and then ask your parents for a dog don't bring up anything about but I have been the best daughter ever etc. etc. Simply say Mom, Dad can I have a well bred canine. I'm sure I can take care of it etc. etc. something like that. I'm sure they'll let you but if the answer is no there might be a big reason why they won't let you have one! mapetiteodette answered Tuesday August 16 2005, 8:38 pm: I say that you and your sister put together a powerpoint about these dogs, such as poodles, who do not shed and the cost of upkeep and such. If you do this you will prove to your parents that you are responsible, so that they will see that you can take care of a dog together. I would also mention the smaller dogs, such as a miniature or toy poodle that has a smaller appetite and a smaller requirement for exercise, because those dogs would be easier and cheaper to take care of.
