Marriage...

Question Posted Tuesday August 16 2005, 3:20 pm

OK, my problem is a bit weird. I'm 16, and that's normal, at least I hope. Anyways, I relised on my vacation last week that I never want to get married. And this isn't one of those "Oh, you're still too young to decide" things. It is one of those impulses that I know I'll have for the rest of my life.
Yet, I still want a child when I'm older. A few years back, I had another one of these impulses which told me that I do not want a child of my own, but I want to adopt.
I really don't know. Is this normal? Or is something wrong with me?

Its normal. Some parents don't want to go through with the pains of childbirth so they decide to adopt. And it is true, you're too young. But don't take my word for it. Good luck! Hope I helped!

Well i answer my questions in a christian way. So God's plan for everybody is different. You could possibly be somebody that he wants to not get married. And thats perfectly FINE! But since you want a child the "christian way" is not going and having sex with somebody to get a baby. Adoption is one of the best thing you could do. Its helping out the needy and i dont see anywhere in the bible where it says somebody who is not married cant adopt. Oh and i dont know if your white/black/hispanic/ect. but like there are adoption things in foreign countries where kids are in really bad conditions. A guy from my church went to Kambodia ( i have no clue how to spell it or if thats the right place ) but he is in the process right now of adopting a little boy named "Artem" ( pronouced - ARe-TIm ) Just incase you wanted to know lol. Well im not sure what your looking for and right now your only 16 and you still got college or whatever your doing and then like theres a site called.... www.worldvision.com <-- it should work but if not just do what you please. I hope i helped and GOD LOVES YOU!!

I don't think so. A lot of people decide to be independant because they don't want a man in they're way. Or some people just don't find they're special someone. It's not weird at all! Maybe you are going through a phase and you will change your mind. Or maybe not. My sister is only 10 and as soon as she figured out how babies were made she doesn't want to get married anymore. That has nothing to do with it so whatever. The point is...NO you're perfectly normal in your beliefs!

Nothing's wrong with you at all. You're 16, which means you'll be an adult in just two short years. The fact that you've started making decisons about what you want with your life means that you're growing up. You're starting to make your own set of values and standards for yourself, which is perfectly normal.

This question sounds so much like me I almost laughed out loud.

I've always known I rather adopt a child and give one a good home rather then bring another babe into this world, and I don't have much of a desire to get married, even though I would like a life partner.

My advice is to just be openminded. It's great to know yourself well enough to know what you want! You are definately not to young to start thinking about your life seriously, just don't get so set in your ways that you can't accept a good thing if it should come along.

Its not at all weird! some people know exactly what they want from the time they are 5 or 6... and others are never staying the same, they are always changing... its a good thing you know what you want to do with your life. you have a goal and this will help you because you know what you want and nothing will get in the way.

hope i helped! good luck!

Oh sweetie, yes of cource. I made the decision a few years ago that I didn't want to get married. The thought of it, just didn't seem to fit in my plan. After meeting my boyfriend now I've decided otherwise and also decided to have children. It's a personal choice.

Also around 14 or 15 your become to come to a nurturing state in your life. You feel the need to want to care for something. This happens to almost all girls and it can affect your decision to have children.

Nothing is wrong with you!

This is totally normal and there isn't anything wrong with you. This is what you want to do in life. It shouldn't matter what other people think. It's normal for people that don't want children of their own or they don't want to get married. A lot of people around the would think the same way as you. I'm kind of like you. I want to get married, but I don't want to have children. However, I'd really like to adopt a child that doesn't have it so good in their household or had a bad growing up. I think adopting a child is great. You're helping them out and are showing them they can be loved and treated with respect. Don't worry about this not being normal, hun. Different people have different out looks on life and how they want to live it. There's nothing wrong with that.
