Question Posted Wednesday August 10 2005, 10:58 pm
Okay so I'm 14 (girl btw) ...5'0 and I'm about 85 pounds. I obviously have a high metabolism and I have to gain 95ish pounds before xmas or... I'm going to the hospital because my mom thinks I have an eating disorder (i dont) How do I gain weight and actually "keep it up" ?
Additional info, added Saturday August 13 2005, 11:34 am: edit- I have to gain to 95ish pounds . Want to answer more questions in the Health & Fitness category? Maybe give some free advice about: Health? VainTaraLynn answered Saturday August 13 2005, 2:25 am: Wow. First off thats not fair because you cant help it that you have a high metabolism. Dont go eating fatty foods though just to gain weight. That will give you health problems. Just eat right and still maintain to exercise, and if you do end up getting admitted into the hospital they will check your health and blood pressure and things of that nature, and if you had an eating disorder they would be all off and messed up, but since you dont it will show that your in good health and totally average for a 5 foot 14 year old girl. When she takes you to the hospital, they will tell her you have a fast metabolism. Do not worry. It's not your problem. My mom worried about me for a bit too, but I finally started gaining weight because my metabolism slowed down.
Just don't worry. You'll be fine. My friend has the same problem, but she's starting to gain weight.
Good luck, hun! [ fatalxheart's advice column | Ask fatalxheart A Question ]

If she does take you to tho hospital, they will know that you dont have an eating disorder because they have ways to check.
You might want to try to gain maybe 10-20 lbs because thats a more healthy wait for your age/height. Maybe build muscle by weight training. and Eat three healthy meals a day. Throw in a snack or two (healthy snacks)
oneandonly345 answered Thursday August 11 2005, 1:11 pm: well there really isnt anything you can do about it .. maybe you should tell her you'd like to go to the doctors NOW and have them tell her that you do not have an eating disorder and that you just have a fast metabolism. because you really can not change that in your body.

*work out by lifting and running wich will help you gain muscle! muscle weighs more than fat! by eat healthy and working out you will gain healthy muscle weight instead of unhealthy fat weight! gaining muscle means gaining weight and it will thicken you up a little bit!!
*to keep it up just keep working out and exercising!
urmomsachltcvrddnt answered Thursday August 11 2005, 1:23 am: Wow, your mom wants you to be 180lbs??? Now that's really unhealthy! Weeeeeelllll......I think I have two answer thingies...
1. If you are accually eating unproperly:
Make sure you eat 3 square meals a day! Just because you might need to gain a little weight doesn't mean you should "junk it up"!! Have lots of protein and calcium!!!
2. If you are eating properly:
Then who cares!! You could just be naturally skinny! Some people are, some people.....aren't.

ncblondie answered Thursday August 11 2005, 1:20 am: A simple, healthy way to gain some weight is to exercise. I know it sounds weird but muscle weighs more than fat. Try some exercises to tone your body. That way you can gain the weight your mom insists on and still keep a healthy body. If you need help with exercises, just let me know.
