I don't know much about the state laws in New York, since I'm from Illinois, but I'm sure there are websites that'll tell you everything you need to know. Just do a google search. There might be a law prohibiting you from getting one without parental permission, but I doubt that'll be a problem in your situation. I wouldn't reccomend getting tattooed at the state fair. That's just asking for complications with the proceedure. They probably won't have the proper equiptment to sterilize the needles and the guns on hand at the fair, and they might not even change the needles and tubing between customers. I would reccomend finding and researching a tattoo parlor with liscensed artists and making an appointment there.

DON'T get them at the state fair, that's probably not clean at all. Anyway, as long as your mom signs the paperwork and gives permission, most places will ink you up. I have a tattoo and I'm 17. I had to have a copy of my birth certificate, my ID (my school ID was okay) and my mom had to sign the paper and show her ID. You may have a little more trouble if you and your mom don't have the same last name, but you should be fine all the same.
♥ Hope I helped.

I think you have to be 18. If you are under 18, all you should need is your mom's signature and valid photo id's for both of you.

Side note...you might nor want to get it done at a fair. There is very little to regulate how sanitary the conditions are at a state fair. You, of course, can get it done where ever you want. However, I would recommend visiting tattoo parlors in your area, and possibly doing some research on the internet to find which was is the cleanest. Remember that a tattoo is like a big wound, and they are very easy to get infected, or messed up.

IndieKidsCanRock answered Saturday August 6 2005, 11:50 am:
♥Well, because of your age you might need a parent to come with you to the state fair to sign a parental consent form. It might not be like that in New York though, but I would think so.

Cale answered Saturday August 6 2005, 3:08 am:
yea thats the way it goes. im pretty sure that in all states if you're a minor you have to have a parent or legal guardian present, or just an adult. I doubt they check your birth certificate to see if there really your parents or such. its the same rules that apply to piecings. hope it helped.

Where I'm from, I think its 18, but if you have a parrent's permission you might be able to get one, because I got one with my dads permission. You could go to a parlor near you and ask?

In North Carolina, 16 with a parent, and 18 alone. I'm not sure if state fair tattoos are permanent though. You might want to go to a tattoo parlor.

I think 18 unless your mom or dad comes along and signs for it saying they have your permission.
