Good Food Choices

Question Posted Friday August 5 2005, 6:12 pm

Hey, im on a diet, but i have no idea what foods to eat.
I kno veggies and fruits and no white bread.
But like for actual meals, what should I eat?

I have to make a grocery list for my mom so it would really help to have this info asap. Thanks will rate high.

Well, you should eat meat, so like chicken, steak, and so on, also the fruits and vegetables, like you said. Try to keep as much dairy out as possible. Like milk, yogurt, cheese, and butter, they are really fatty. Good luck and I hope I helped!!!

You should fallow the food chart see how uch food you are supposed to eat of each categorie but dont eat a lot of things with carbs and stuf and not that many callories and you should maybe eat grilled instead of fried. eat special k in the morning and maybe some organic fruit. i heard that helps drink water instead of soda or juice unless its fresh squeezed. eat littler purpotions. stuff like that and i heard not eating after 6 is better for you unless you want to exercise for like 2 hours after you eat to burn off the fat and stuff and i also heard when your trying to loose weight fast when your exercising wipe off the sweat every one in awhile so you can sweat off a lot of your water weight.

Michele answered Friday August 5 2005, 8:34 pm:
Here is the same answer I gave to some other girls with the same question Don't expect miracles in two weeks. but you will see a difference in two weeks, and just keep it up, and you will loose all the weight you want and look really hot!
You need a two fold plan. Burn calories and tone or build muscles. Burning calories is any exercise of long duration. Running, walking, biking, skating, swimming. rowing, for an hour four or five times a weeek. (good thing it's summer time) Any or a combination of all of them. Then work with free weights. Low weights like 3 to 5 to 8 lbs will help tone muscles, higher weights will build muscles. (You can use cans of beans to start.)You don't want to work on building muscles until you have lost weight. Otherwise you build the muscles under the fat and you will not look better. GEt a book on weight lifting or go to www.about.com they have a section on weight loss and weight training, you can sign up for their free newsletter. If you are going to work out a home can you invest in a few hand weights and a work out bench. You can't do the right kind of exercises on the floor. Look for books by Joyce Verdral, PHD. She has books about weight lifing that explain everything, and they have pictures and all. YOu can find used books and old books on the web at www.half.com for very little money.
And finally, yo need to go on a very low fat diet, here is a basic one that I used for many years, and still try to follow. I know this works. I lost 45 lbs. in 5 months. The more fat you have the mor weight you will loose

Cut all fat out of your diet. Read the labels and see what food you eat that contains fat. I mean the nutrition labels. Foods that are high in fat are
Whole milk
ice cream
potato chips
cookies
cakes
pies
cheese
cheese
cheees
especially cheese
cheetos
doritos
french fries
NO FRIED FOODS

snack only on pretzels and low fat popcorn

no candy
no soda
drink lots of water

consume low fat or no fat versions of

milk
yogurt
drink lots of water
eat lots of fruits and veggies
white meat chicken and turkey or fish baked or broiled or grilled. NO FRYING
no red meat.

Eat a piece of chicken or turkey no larger than the size of your hand.
Cereal is a good snack food. Choose cereals low in fat and low in sugar, have with skim milk.

Eat dairy, fruit and cereal in the am.
snack on fruit
eat dairy, fruit, 4 oz of meat, and one slice of whole grain bread, or pretzels or popcorn and veggies or salad for lunch
repeat for dinner.

have a smalll bowl of cereal with fat free milk as a snack after dinner. Or pretzels or popcorn
follow this NO CHEATING, and you will loose 10 lbs in two weeks.
This is taken form the FAT TO MUSCLE DIET. It is a book, see if you can find a copy.

Good Luck to you. You go girl!

You should buy some Weight Watcher Chocolate cakes they are really small and not that fattening at all... well thats a snack. For breakfast there are the Weight Watcher Muffins like blueberry and stuff DELICIOUS. Another Idea for breakfast is fry 1 egg and eat a strip of bacon that isnt fattening. Eat tuna fish with not so much mayo over some romane lettuce or on a slice of wheat bread. Good Luck with the diet!

Saynotogymclass answered Friday August 5 2005, 7:03 pm:
You could make some wraps with grilled chicken, and some other veggies. Just avoid putting mayo in it because its fattening.

For breakfast try some cereals like Special K. Use skim milk with it because it is the healthiest milk. If you can't stand skim milk try 1%. Add bananas or strawberries.

Make snadwiches with whole wheat bread.

Good snacks include yogurt, dried fruit, granola bars, veggies and dip, or celery with peanutbutter.

Good luck on your diet!!!

Wheat bread not White...white has chemicals in it. For meals try tuna or any fish, low carb, a few potatoes, meat with trimmings. Ok for something delicious and nutricious try this...
Get some chicken and broil it and season it with some salt a little soy sauce and pepper, steam cooked veggies like broccili, carrots, cauliflowers, peas, corn as a side dish. As for dessert try frozen yougurts or sorbets. Good Luck!

Well when your making the list keep in mind what you need each day. 2-3 servings of the milk, cheese & yogurt group && 2-3 servings of meat poultry, fish, dry beans & eggs group. 3-5 servings of the vegetable group & the fruit group. 6-11 servings of bread, cereal, rice & pasta group. =) i'll make a list of what you should buy to keep you eating healthy.

Healthy food for breakfast:

- bagels with your favorite lowfat cream cheese
- ready-to-eat cereal topped with sliced banana and yogurt
- quick hot cereals
- bran muffins served with fresh fruit
- peanut butter on toast with milk
- dinner leftovers wrapped in a tortilla
- yogurt sprinkled with whole grain cereal
- breakfast shakes can be made with milk or yogurt, fruit and a teaspoon of bran

Other foods:

- pasta & noodles
- salads & sandwhiches
- beans
- nuts
- whole grain crackers & cheese
- peanut butter & celery
- yogurt

heres the things you shouldn't have:

- fast food
- soda, or any sugary drinks
- chips
- candy
- deep fried foods

* buy lots of milk & water
* have 5 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones.

hope that helps. need more, leave one in my inbox.

-Less sugar.
-No [or VERY little] soda.
-Lots of WATER. [Flavored water counts too!]

Definitely suggest that you eat normally, then do lots of cardio! There's nothing wrong with eating regularly as long as you balance eating and excersising. Just tell her not to get soda, or anything that would "tempt" you. Good luck!
