Question Posted Friday August 5 2005, 11:01 am

Ok, I'm 13 (14 next week), 5'1", and 161 pounds. I'm very overweight. Embarrasing, but it's the truth. I need to lose weight. I really want to lose like 50 pounds by Christmas possibly sooner. My mom was going to order the Nutrisystem foods for me but it has been delayed(probably cancelled) cuz we just can't afford spening 300 dollars on something like that right now. Is there anything else out there that can help me?! I don't want diet pills or ebooks but maybe some type of prepackaged food meals that maybe are a little cheaper. Or like a diet plan just for me that doesn't cost much!!!

There is a diet plan in an issue of Redbook that looks like it would work!! I don't know if you would be able to get that issue since it is from a while ago but I could send you all the info if you are interested!!

okay first off excersise is really important
do pushups & situps increasing how many you do by 5 every 2 weeks do that
every day then after you do your sittups and pushups go running around your block or street
and you should run about a mile a day (walkmans and cheap cd players r good and you could get them for a cheap price)

now about eating... ok nothing fried... not to many calories... try things like rotissere chicken and veggies and fruits and not to many sweets... and if your hungry for junk food that just means your hungry for real food and should eat something good...
good luck

first off, to lose 50lbs is a bit much. You're only 14, so you're probably still going to grow a bit, and you're 5 ft 1. You're healthy weight is probably around 130. And that still depends on bone structure.
If you want to lose weight, the best way is to eat in portions, not eating too much, and to limit sweets and things. Eat lots of fruits and veggies, drink lots of water all day long, and excersize.

You should go to Jenny Craig or Curves (that's a gym just for women) and talk to a trainer. There are also nutritionists that can give you the tools to eat right and most trainers will create an exercise program just for you. I doubt that you'll lose all that weight by Christmas -- you need a more realistic goal so that you won't be disappointed if you don't make it. Try for 30 pounds by Christmas. That makes more sense. Anyway, go with the diet and exercise plans that the trainers and nutritionists give you, and don't give up. It's really great that you've decided to take the initiative here and try to find a way to lose weight without necessarily depending on everyone else. Great job, and good luck.
♥ Hope I helped.

Try the Atkins diet. It works really well, all you have to do is cut out carbs and things. Just go to www.atkins.com for more info. It's basically just eating healthier. This website will give you recipies that are easy to make and they taste great. Good luck!!!

Basically eat right and exercise

Learn to cook! Then, you know exactly what goes into your food, and you have the pride of being able to cook. Plus people love to date someone who can cook well, lol.

Find a sport you enjoy! Any sort of physical activity is good. I personally play DDR. ^^

Remember: all things in moderation. A scoop of icecream every once in a while (say, once a week or less) won't hurt you, but one every day will.

Also, look for tasty, healthy alternatives. Try sorbets and fresh fruits when you crave sweets. Yogurts are also good. Smoothies help too. Tofu is great as a meat substitute in stirfry.

But remember this: NEVER GO BELOW 1000 CALORIES A DAY! NEVER!!!! Try to eat 1500 calories per day.

EDIT: DDR is Dance Dance Revolution.

Lots of excersize, the surefire way to lose weight is lots of running and excersizing. That cooperated with good eating habits (low intake of fatty, greasy, or sweet foods and more wholesome and balanced meals) can help a person lose weight in no time. Also with excerzing you get a more improved body, which will help you feel better about yourself.

Good luck with the weight loss and hope this advice helped.

-Ryan

P.S. The prepacked food deal..it might just be better to make your own healthy meals, its cheaper and you get expierence in knowing what foods work for you.

When i want to loose weight, DRINK WATER. It helps, and if you must drink some type of soda, drink it diet. And get lots of exercise. If you are like me and hate exercising (running, crunches, anything that requires you to move...etc) then you can just run a small distances around your house.Start out running around the house once in the morning 2 times around, and once in the evening 2 times around. Each day go a little farther, you can take 1/2 steps too. Im sure you will be able to loose some weight!

Dont go with the eating disorder bandwagon no matter what!

I'm going through the same thing. I know what you mean. But I know how to lose weight. Even though I can't stick to it now, I've done it and every two weeks, I went down 10 pounds! I know, its amazing! But kids lose weight faster than adults. So.. all you have to do is eat right. Steak, chicken, turkey, salad, etc. No sugar but Yes fat. Don't ask me what it is, but don't eat sugar and watch fats. By this I mean don't eat TOO many fats. Just a few. You also need to do a little excersizing. Jumping rope once a day for 20 minutes non-stop. Or just run around the house about 5 times a day. I've done both. If you need any more tips, Inbox me or IM me at beecuzzimcooool. *wink wink*

Hope I helped <33
