funkymunky817 answered Wednesday August 3 2005, 10:29 pm: i have the same problem. when i want to do two things at once and i know that one thing is better than the other. i just take a good look in the mirrior and i tell myself how i would benifit and not benifit from the thing i want ot accomplish. and as i tell myself the list i get worse and worse as i go on. such as if i think im fat and i should excersise instead of sit in front of the tv and eat food. i start with i may get fatter then i will get so fat no one will like me and therefore i will become unhappy...and so on. normally that helps
rockstarxlove answered Wednesday August 3 2005, 10:11 pm: Okay, well i have somewhat of the same problem. and i havent really been motivated. lol, well what you can do, is just look at yourself in a mirror, if you are not happy with your weight when your looking in the mirror, it will motivate you to exsersize. i know that sounds retarded but it does help to do that. other things that may help is making exsersize fun. One thing i always like to do, and it keeps me in shape, is swimming. Swimming is fun, and it gives you excersize. And you dont need to be motivated for sports & practice if you are on a team, because you have to do it anyways. lol, you know what i mean? well you can also, set goals for yourself. Set things you want to accomplish. That helps your motivation. Try to do something like, i'll jumprope monday, i'll swim tuesday, i'll jog a mile wednesday, etc. that could be a good start. There is plenty of things you can do.
LoveNJstyle answered Wednesday August 3 2005, 9:57 pm: well peoply find motivation in different things... to impress someone, to get someone to like them, to fit into old clothes, etc. find motivation in your unsatisfying body or try to beat someone. whatever works for you! <3 [ LoveNJstyle's advice column | Ask LoveNJstyle A Question ]

Xo_Blondii_oX answered Wednesday August 3 2005, 9:34 pm: get a friend to work out w/ you that usually keeps you motivated or make a plan that you have to work out before you talk on the phone, computer etc. If you can't find anyone to work out w/ you then have someone keep nagging you till you get up and do it. Thats what ive done and it keeps me pretty motivated. (sorry i know this advice probably doesnt help much) [ Xo_Blondii_oX's advice column | Ask Xo_Blondii_oX A Question ]
TheOldOne answered Wednesday August 3 2005, 9:33 pm: One thing that helps is to make a regular schedule. If you know that from 7 to 8 o'clock (or whenever) every day is your time to work out, you're much more likely to stick to it - particularly once you make it through the first few days.
You can develop that habit surprisingly quickly.
This next motivator is more difficult to explain, but one thing that helped me a LOT a while ago was to keep in mind the good feeling I'd get after a workout. Every night that I felt like blowing it off, I reminded myself of how crappy I'd feel the next day for failing, and how good I'd feel THAT NIGHT on the way home from a successful workout. That worked really well for me, and I was able to keep going to the gym at least five days a week for more than a year. I lost about 45 lbs and put on a LOT of muscle.
Emily88 answered Wednesday August 3 2005, 9:30 pm: you have to want to do it to be motivated about it. have a goal. you want that hott bod? it takes work. if your having fun while your doing running or sports or working out... your more likely to do it more often because you enjoy it.
snowbird answered Wednesday August 3 2005, 9:24 pm: Just set a goal and it will help. Start out at a small goal. For instance say its working out, say to yourself Ill work out half an hour each day then build upon that. Reward yourself for it as well..seeing that reward in site will help you achive your goal.
For instance, after having my son my goal was to loose 8 pounds so I bought a really cute dress one size to small and knew I couldnt fit it unless I lost that 8 pounds. I hung it outside of the closet so I would see it all the time and get motivated to work out. And guess what...Im back to a size 6!! [ snowbird's advice column | Ask snowbird A Question ]
