Long story... Alright, so I work in this fast food place, and it's pretty horrible there. It's a shady company to say the least. Anyways, I've been working there as long as the manager, and that's longer than anyone else becasue they're always hiring new people since everyone's always quitting.
Anyways, I gave my two weeks notice on Sunday, and on Sunday night the assistant manager told the manager that he had had enough because something else had happened. So I had to go in yesterday because my boss wanted to talk to me, in other words, she begged me to reconsider.
Everyone loves the assistant manager, just because he's nice and fair, so I know two guys who are going to quit because he quit. So basically, this place is screwed. Now I feel really pressured to 'reconsider' even though I really don't want to work there anymore. It's just a bad place to be, but I feel bad for my manager. What should I do?

Im going through the same thing right now at my job. The winter is our really busy season and i feel bad leaving but i cant take it anymore. You just have to do what makes YOU happy. They will manage, i mean, you have to remember that eventually you are going to leave anyways and probably move on to a job with more money and opportunities. Whether now or whenever. But do what is best for YOU. Always put yourself first. ]
If you don't want to work there, then just leave. Your manager will be ok. Good luck! Hope I helped! ]
Its not your responsiblilty to make sure the place is running. Your responsiblitly is to go in and do your job. So if you quit n things go wrong its not YOUR fault its who ever owns it. And if everyone else is quitting then obviously its not a good place to be and you dont want to work there for ever just because other people quit. You just as much as a right to quit as anyone else! ]
If you truly don't like working there then don't let feeling sorry for anyone stop you.
On the other hand have you considered asking for the assistant manager job should it come open? Could be a raise in pay and would look good on a resume for future jobs. You have been there longer than the others and maybe you could help make some improvements.....Just a thought. :) ]
Legally, the manager has no pressure to force you to "reconsider." That is a blatent use of intimidation. It sounds like that the manager is the reason that the place is shady. In that case, I would urge you to go above your manager and find the number of a regional or national office of your restaurant (assuming that it is a chain), and reporting your manager to them so that they may investigate, and perhaps remove said manager. Don't feel bad for the manager, management rarely cares about the lower level employees, especially on a store level. I work for a SuperTarget, and I dont even know for sure who the main store manager is, but I know if things start getting shady, the number of the national Target employee hotline is posted near the time clock, and in the break room. Just look around those areas in your building, and if you don't find it, then that is another breech of corporate ethics, and you should go to another neighborhood restaurant of your chain, and ask a member of their management, who should be happy to assist you. If your restaurant is a chain, you might want to look up the number of the local office of the Better Business Bureau, with whom you can log complaint against your workplace that will be investigated. Hope this helps. Email me if you need more information.

if you dont like it there, you shouldnt work there.
if you are going to feel bad, wait for a few more people to get hired, then quit. but if you really dont like it there, quit. and hopefully your manager will realize the place is crappy and make a few good changes. ]
You are not the reason the business is in trouble, nor is it your job to fix it. Don't let them pressure you and make you feel bad. It's not your responsibility. Tell them thanks for the opportunity, but you really must move on - and leave it at that. ]
