my cheer trainer taught me something....
put your hands out to a wall, fall forward and push back do that like 40 times it will work your upper body strength, i know it sounds wierd BUT TRUST ME IT WORKS!!
beachhun101 answered Friday July 29 2005, 9:22 pm: ok i know pushups are hard, and ive just finished a freshman basketball camp so this works out. okay, in order to make them easier, do them on a wall. it may seem like they wont work but it does. step back further, and put your hands at eye height and a lil farther than shoulder width apart. and do 3 reps of 15. then to work your tricepts, do the same but move your hands in so they're 3 inches apart and go down and up for 3 reps of 15. and keep your elbows tucked in so that they actually work. this will definetly help your arms. and pushups also work your core (abs), so do crunches and body planks to work your abs. if you have questions just ask me them in my inbox. hope this all works out!

artistegirly answered Friday July 29 2005, 9:17 pm: Before you try anything else have you tried "girl push-ups"? Just do 5 then do reps of somthing else then do 6 more, then do more reps of the other excercise then do 7 and so on until you can do 15 or 20 at once. When I first started cheerleading in 5th grade it worked for me!
If you can't do that though, you will need a bench and weights or a rowing machine. Go to Google and type in "pectoral exercises" and that will give you a list of sites that will show you what to do!
Teen_Guru answered Friday July 29 2005, 9:12 pm: Practice, all ways helps. When doing push-ups thy doing it with another friend (it makes it easier to have some one encouraging). Also listen to music while doing it also helps as well. When you do the actual push ups start off small but strong (that means do not do the weak & partial versions but the full stuff, even if you can’t do that many. One full one is better than 10 partial ones). Also set goals; like try doing 10 push ups in a week, the 20 the next week (or whatever works best 4 you).
rikatree2375 answered Friday July 29 2005, 9:00 pm: Have you considered doing weights??? That helps a lot. Sometimes you just have to build up. Don't start at like 20 pushups. Set a lower goal like 5 or something. Every day do as many sets of 5 as you can. Eventually you'll get stronger and you can do more. Just take it slow cuz it's a long process.
