Nevaeh314 answered Saturday July 30 2005, 11:08 pm: Nope, it's no big deal. Bigger place, more people, same old school. Nobody antagonizes the freshman, they're all too wrapped up in their own lives and schoolwork and social life to really care. Academically, it's a cinch, as long as you're not in like hugely accelerated classes, cause then it gets tough. Socially, you have to work a little harder to keep close to your friends, but you get to expand your horizons and it's manageable. And fun!
On a note...homecoming week is the killer. If they haven't yet outlawed hazing at your school, watch out, if any upperclassmen have grudges on you ;) Carry a change of clothes in case you get put on a bubbler. If you're rarely noticed or have upperclassmen friends, don't worry about it. But homecoming week is kinda fun, too :)
Enjoy high school.

hckypuck answered Friday July 29 2005, 10:56 am: im going to be a senior and i can tell you this much :
TO AVOID THE TYPICAL FRESHMIE TORTURE :
1) dont stick out like a sore thumb by wearing a backpack that will knock you over in a second (meaning its huge)
2) dont ever tell someone your a freshman first unless you kno that they are not a junior or a senior.
3) dont cut in the lunch line if you know there is some senior or junior in front of you.
also .
1) freshman year is the easiest year no lie. just read the books and complete your hw . its that easy . beware of junior year .. its your hardest .
hope this helped some ..
good luck with high school .
get involved early. go to sports games. be spirited .. you wont regret it :)
steponme answered Thursday July 28 2005, 1:39 pm: hey, being a freshman is great!!!!! see, i was a freshman three years ago, my advice to you is to relax. nothin seriously bad is gonna to happen. if you are scared that someone is gonna to bully you around or someone is gonna dump you in a trash can, they won't. when i started out at high school, i decided to make new friends, older friends. and if you leave the bullies alone most of the time they won't even know you are there. so don't totally freak out high school is awsome!!!!!!!!!!! barbiedollx answered Thursday July 28 2005, 10:15 am: High school was awesome at least for me. The school work wasn't too different than in middleschool except obv. you more work. But if you do your work and pay attension in class you'll be fine. Socially on the 1st day everyone is going to be nervous. If your friends are going to the same school just hang out with them the 1st few days then try and branch out and make new friends. If your starting all over with hardly any friends at your school just go up to someone who you know and just kinda follow them around and you'll meet a lot more people. But seriously high school was awesome so just have fun and enjoy it while it lasts. [ barbiedollx's advice column | Ask barbiedollx A Question ]

Snailing answered Thursday July 28 2005, 4:51 am: I thought the same when I started high school...but it turned out to be just the same as the first day of middle school... Only people were much more polite =) I think it also depends where the school is located... Oh and some of the seniors try to get a freshmen boy/girlfriend because they're new to the school and don't know what they are like =P [ Snailing's advice column | Ask Snailing A Question ]
YouCanSleepWhileIDream answered Thursday July 28 2005, 3:09 am: High school isn't as bad a people make it seem. Academically, as long as you keep up on your work you should do alright. The work isn't incredibly hard like some will say. As for socially, it's really what you make of it. My freshman year I didn't get noticed by anyone. However, I didn't try to talk to new people. Sophmore year I began to talk to more and more people there and things got better. So don't be afraid to mingle :o). If the kind of socially you are refering to is the hazing. I really wouldn't worry about that. Laws nowadays make it so if there is any hazing it'll be harmless. And if it isn't the police will do something about it. I believe that high schoolers try to tell younger people that high school is hard and really terrible. But the truth is it isn't really any harder than middle school. As long as you keep on top of your tasks. Things will be fine. Have fun! :o)
