First off - I am appauled that there is no reading or literature category. If you feel you need to put in "Home Decorating" then you should put in "Literature" - the few of us cultured folk have questions too.
I went to my local book store seeking a copy of the books - Ishmael by Daniel Quinn and Cats Cradle by Kurt Vonnegurt Jr. (not positive on the spelling of Vonnegurt)
The books all together were something like $40 - which is a tad above my budget for reading material at the moment. I was wondering if anyone knew of some site online (not an ebay kind of thing - something more focused on consumer happiness than general profit) where I could maybe find a less expensive used copy of each.
Im aware I can use Amazon or something like that - but i'd prefer something different. Please only post something that you have used, or know someone has used and walked away satisfied.

Why not try the public library? They are sure to have both books and they are free for the reading. So, unless you just have to 'own' the books give it a try. I used to have to own the books too but I got so many I had no room to keep them. Cats Cradle is a good one by the way. Vonnegut is spelled without the R.
I could talk books for hours...anyway, you wanted something I've used and the public library is what I use. Free, can't beat that. :) [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]

However I would suggest to use Amazon.com because their prices are very affordable and they have most every book you could want. what sort of different thing are you looking for? I'm sure you'd find these books on Amazon. Good luck!
ncblondie answered Wednesday July 27 2005, 8:25 pm: Just so you know Amazon does have both books for just a little over $20 together. Barnes & Noble also carries the book for around the same price.
Are you aware that there is a sequel to Ishmael? It's called My Ishmael.
If you go to [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) and enter your zip code to find bookstores within a 100 mile radius that carries books that you are looking for. I often use it to save myself the trouble of calling each individual bookstore.
[Link](Mouse over link to see full location) is another good site you might try. You can search for the books and make arrangements with the booksellers to mail the item to you. I took the liberty of looking for you and found that they do have both books and you can get them both for under $20 including shipping. I use this site occasionally when I can't find a copy of a book nearby. [ ncblondie's advice column | Ask ncblondie A Question ]

Very soon, there will be more categories. A lot more. And we will be sure to have a category for this topic also.
LoViNu2mOuCh answered Wednesday July 27 2005, 7:05 pm: I work at a bookstore and a lot of time it is hard to find discounted books. i work at an independant bookstore so we are not able to discount books because then we would not make any money... but enough of that you might want to try patheticallly a wal mart.. they seem to discount everything another is you could try amazon they are always discouting prices!!
(and i totally agree about there not being a literature section!!!)
