Interview

Question Posted Wednesday July 13 2005, 3:12 pm

I have an interview tomorrow afternoon at United Colors of Benneton. I was wondering if anyone could provide some quick guidelines for what to wear. I do not own a suit. Tips regarding hair and makeup would also be appreciated. (I am female, by the way.)

we had to do a pretend interview in school this year, and they covered everything! I hope this can be of some help to you:
-dont wear big earrings, like hoops, interviwers(?) prefer studs
-wear a nice skirt, and a nice shirt, and nice shoes. you should probably dress like you're going to church, or as if you're going to a rather fancing outing.
-make up, keep it minimal. foundation, a little blush, and mascara//eyeliner should cover it.
-dont wear too many accsessories, such as braclets and necklaces, be rather conservative
>>some other tips they gave us: anything negative about you that comes up, try to turn it positive. ie. you've wrote some of your bad habits such as being a procrastinator. you can say: i've been getting more organized and setting a deadline for things i need to do. never bring up money unless the interviwerer does. make sure you smile and use your manners. dont lie. list ALL of the good things you can think of that you've ever done. and dont lie about anything.>> i'm sure you already knew that stuff, but i decided to put them down just incase you dont.

good luck, hope you get the job.

You don't have to have a suit to look professional. Dress slacks and a nice blouse or blazer will work. Make sure they're clean and unwrinkled. Matching shoes will complete the outfit. Also make sure that they're cleaned. Hair should be done neatly but nothing outrageous. Make-up should be tasteful, don't go overboard. Try not to wear too much jewelry. Simple is the key. Other tips are show up a few minutes early, know a little about the company, look the interviewer in the eye, and smile. Good luck. Hope you get it.

White button up blouse with a coller,
Black pants or skirt (no pinstripes)
Hair in a bun, if it's long enough, or if its short pull it back with a barrete to the side,
black hosery, black socks, or black knee highs (no fishnets)
black shoes like heels. 1 1/2 in. or 2 1/2 in.(no stelletoes or loafers)
pressed powder, concealer, lipstic (in a non-dramatic color like purple, crimson, brown and so on) mascara matching your hair color, glasses over contacts if you have them, and a french manicure may be best for nails, and if you have open toed heels, get a pedicure. Rings are ok, NO TOERINGS, a simple neclace if you want one, and bracelets are ok if you don't wear too many, and NO RUBBER BRACELETS.

YOU D0NT HAVE TO WEAR A SUIT. YOU CAN WEAR SOMETHING ELLIGENT && ALS0 VERY STYLISH. YOU COULD WEAR A NORMAL SKIRT. ABOUT TO YOUR KNEES. A SHIRT AND A BLAZER OVER. THAT IS KIND OF LIKE A SUIT BUT NOT REALLY. FOR YOUR HAIR YOU COULD JUST EATHER PULL IT BACK IN A NORMAL STRAIGHT PONY TAIL OR JUST CLIP IT OR LEAVE IT DOWN & CURLY. MAKEUP.. D0NT WEAR ANYTHING T00 DARK. JUST N0RMAL NATRUAL MAKEUP THAT MATCHES YOUR SKIN. BROWNS`TANS`GOLDS ARE VERY GOOD. IF YOU WEAR LIPSTICK YOU CAN WEAR THAT WITH A LITTLE BIT OF LIPGLOSS OVER. GO0D LUCK. Nyx answered Wednesday July 13 2005, 3:16 pm:
You want to look sharp, and professional. Statistics show that when you wear red you demand respect, and you catch the eye of interviewers/teachers/whoever. But don't over do the red, lest you look like a popsicle! LOL.

Perhaps put your hair up... it looks a little more professional and respectable. As far as make-up, just don't over do it. In other words, dont look like Mimi from The Drew Carry Show with her bright blue eyeshadow, and caked on mascara. Just remember to stay calm, and be yourself and you should do fine!
