Unless someone cheated on you or treated you badly in anyway, they ALWAYS deserve to be told with courtesy and respect. Being broken up with is horrible, especially when it's with someone you genuinely care about, and it should be done in the nicest possible way.

At least call him on the phone and be mature about it, please. There's no need to let everyone know. If you're insistant about doing it online, send him a Facebook/MySpace message or an e-mail. But please at least call him, he deserves that much, especially if he means as much to you as he used to.

Yes, it's wrong, & fairly immature. Not to mention probably pretty embarrassing for him. Have the common courtesy & break up with him in person.
