I'm currently going to cheer camp everyday for 9 hours a day for my squad. (Ive been going for 2 weeks) I'm so tired and so worn out I dont know if I can take it anymore. I'm very sore from all the jumps, stretching etc., But my coach wants me to push through but I dont know if I can take it anymore, I've already pulled my hamstring, and bruised my big toe (stunting), and my shoulder(while tumbling). What should I do? (I still have 2 more weeks of it!)
i think that you should just keep on going because in the end its all worth it. dont worry you will be ok. hey as for you being sore take a hot bath or a shower or get in the hot tub.

suurrahh answered Sunday June 26 2005, 5:44 am: Im a cheerleader and I know how you feel. I may not be in cheer for 9 hours everyday at the moment, but I do have cheer right now and I'm feeling sore and tired a lot. I have been bruised up my arms and legs from stunting. That can be ignored... Don't give up, you've already gone through 2 long weeks of it. Take hot baths, and soak in them for about a half hour or so each night, or every other night. Do things that relax you, and take medicine such as tylenol or ibuprofen if you need it. Be careful though.. [ suurrahh's advice column | Ask suurrahh A Question ]
LongLostHeart answered Saturday June 25 2005, 10:34 pm: Hm...I think I can help...I was a cheerleader for 8 years straight, and a flyer in the stunts too.
Take lots of tylenol!!!It really helps.
For joint pains put ice on the area, for muscle or skin pains use a heating pad or something warm. You could also alternate if your willing.
Try not to do as much or push yourself as hard when your working out.Take a few deep breaths and drink water or Powerade constantly.
If it gets really bad, talk to your coach about it again, tell her you need to slow down some.
I hope this helps. [ LongLostHeart's advice column | Ask LongLostHeart A Question ]
SmileLikeYouMeanIt answered Saturday June 25 2005, 7:52 pm: This sounds like a pretty rough camp! I'm on poms and we have poms camp that sounds like it is basically just like this. You say you are sore from stretching, but stretching should help to keep you from becoming sore. You also said that it's nine weeks long and that you only have 2 weeks left. You have completed so much of this camp. It just wouldn't be worth it to quit now. You will feel so good if you complete this camp. Just go easy and be careful with your hamstring, because you don't want to make that worse. Just stretch every day at home when you have time even if you already stretched at camp. As for the bruises... you just have to be strong and put up with them.. they aren't the end of the world. make sure you see a trainer about your hamstring, too. I hope this advice helps!! Whenever practice is done for the day, take a hot bath with some candles, take a nap, get a facial, get a mani or pedi(they may not let you .. they don't let us.. but i always get a pedicure because they never see it anyways),meditate, or anything else that will help you relax. Stay strong!

xflipthisx14 answered Thursday June 23 2005, 2:16 pm: If you want to be the best you have to push through it. Take advil and ice every night and that will help.
orphans answered Thursday June 23 2005, 9:06 am: Ok...Im a cheerleader too.we have it 6 hours a day all summer. and no offense, but all the bruses and stuff like that, are hardly anything in cheerleading. Ask the coach if you can take 1 day off or maybe you can use icy hot for muscle pain.
Hope I helped ex_oh_ex [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]

queenbianca2004 answered Thursday June 23 2005, 8:56 am: Well even if it hurts i htink you should try and pull through. I mean you dont want to be known as a quitter and Imean look how many people youd be letting down! I know it hurts but it will all pay off later! I mean think with two more youll be stronger and better! Quitting gets you nowhere!
