rnobers answered Monday June 13 2005, 9:37 am: first or all the answers you have received from the other people are either very flawed or incomplete. and rather disburbing. i would recommend doing several things:
1)consult a doctor about your thoughts and he can give you a target weight or a healthy weight. internet searches are not exactly the best. most doctors do not post information (or why would they be working)
2)gaining weight is a simple equation. eating more calories then what you burn or use. A dietician can tell you exactly the amount of calories you need to maintain body weight, even based on your physical exertion. they say that eating 500 more calories a day will increase your weight an average of 1 pound a week.
3)gaining safe weight is the tricky part. safe weight is ok if it is done slowly. I assume you want some muscle mass rather than fat. Resistance training (such as weights) are good exercises. aerobic exercise will help the fear of gaining fat. if you train your entire body, you will naturally be hungry anyway. as long as you are training, you can increase your food intake.
DangerNerd answered Sunday June 12 2005, 11:04 pm: Hello there,
I would like to suggest that you take a trip to your nearest GNC or health food store and talk to them about protein shakes and carbohydrate mixes.
You can use these to supplement your regular diet, and also learn a lot about nutrition in the process.
There are quite a few products specifically designed to help you put on muscle or a new and exciting layer of chubbiness. Depending on what you need.
Whatever products interest you, I suggest you research online before purchasing. There are a great number of very expensive products that are the identical item you could get for one fourth the price in another brand. As in everything else it pays to shop around.
twynelyne answered Sunday June 12 2005, 10:38 pm: eat your recommended portions of each food group for your age and weight (which you can find on the internet) also lifting weights can increase muscle mass and give you healthy weight, if you eat well and lift weights and workout you should gain weight in a positive way on your body [ twynelyne's advice column | Ask twynelyne A Question ]
