I have a friend moving away to England during the summer (we currently live in America). I want to put together a mix CD for her. Are there any suggestions of songs I should use? Keep in mind that both me and her HATE rap and urbanish songs...
The songs should be like, about never forgetting her and having fun and stuff... I don't know, things that would remind you of someone who was moving away, if that made sence. Thank you!

I Will Remember You (Sarah McLachlan)
Do What You Have To Do (Sarah McLachlan)
Don't Leave Home (Dido)
Sand In My Shoues (Dido)
Answer (Sarah McLachlan)
Angel (Sarah McLachlan)
Dirty Little Secret (Sarah McLachlan)
Sunrise (Norah Jones)
Creepin' In (Norah Jones & Dolly Parton)
I Will Not Forget You (Sarah McLachlan)
all of those r depressing romance songs really... but there good, & they have good-bye themes to them

For the moving away theme, try "Yesterday" by The Beatles, "Heroes" by David Bowie, and I'm sure there a lot of Cat Stevens songs that would also be wonderful. vermillion26 answered Sunday May 29 2005, 2:45 pm: try to think of songs that are special to you both. bands that you've maybe gone to a concert toghther, something that was playing when you did something special. maybe put on a song that resembles her personality or has her name in it. personal songs are the best fopr this kind of thing, something that will evoke memories of good times together. theres a song called graduation its by vitamin c, its really sappy, but it might be what you're looking for, depends on wheter she likes pop, though. there are lots of songs, but its most important to use soemthing personal that she will treasure.

I mean sure it sounds kinda corny but like sometimes when i listen to songs that my friends and i goof around with it makes me happy and a little sad. You could get together a few last times together and make the days last as long as you can.. like by going somewhere fun and while you are having fun you could stop and get a piece of paper and try to think of all the songs that make you guys HAPPY! Also take alot of pictures of each other ONE last time and then you have to pull away i know you dont want to! But you could try to visit her and write to her and always give each other recent pictures of you guys growing up in separate directions! Yeah and like you said no rap songs lol just don't put them in the songs you dont like!
Well anyways i hope my advice was good in a way.. lol ttyl

If you haven't heard it, then listen to Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life) by Green Day. It would work really well on the CD. The lyrics are below so you can see how fitting it is.
Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go
So make the best of this test, and don't ask why
It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time
It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.
So take the photographs, and still frames in your mind
Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time
Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial
For what it's worth it was worth all the while
It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.
It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.
