sdog1205 answered Monday May 16 2005, 9:40 pm: Yes you are underage. He is legally an adult and you are still legally a kid. You're going to be considered underage for him until you are 18. Because you are underage if you two do anything sexual it will be considered rape even if you agree to it and if your parents find out about it and want to press charges on him they could. It's not a good idea for you two to do anything you should wait a couple years. If your parents find out about it and decide to press charges it could cause a lot of problems for him. Once you are 18 they can't press charges because you are legally an adult. If you still don't understand drop a question in my inbox and I will try to explain it better.
sarah0308 answered Saturday May 14 2005, 4:55 pm: yes you are 'underage'. in other words, you are a minor. he is considered an adult. for you to not be a minor, you have to be over 18..

LoveNJstyle answered Saturday May 14 2005, 11:08 am: yes you are "underage". the law was put in because some people that were "of age" took advantage of the minor. this also happens with a 13 year old with a 17 year old, the 4 year difference is enough for the 17 yr old to get in trouble. all it means is you cant have a sexual relationship with him so say your parents caught you, he would be in trouble. some parents dont care about the age difference but when they catch them, they turn the adult in. thats about it. hope this helps! <3 [ LoveNJstyle's advice column | Ask LoveNJstyle A Question ]
FunnyCide answered Saturday May 14 2005, 10:50 am: You're a minor if you're under eighteen years of age. If you have sex with a man who is eighteen years of age or older, and you're less than eighteen, it is considered rape - no matter what. It's illegal for a minor (someone under 18) to do "stuff" with someone who is over 18. This is because at eighteen, you're an adult. If you're younger than eighteen, you're still a kid. That's just how the law goes.

Ashley1 answered Saturday May 14 2005, 10:16 am: Yes, You are underage and it is not legal for you to have a sexual relationship with him until you turn 18. If you and him ever get caught having sex while your underage, He would go to jail for statutory rape. Since he is 18 and your 15, I would think your both are at different points in life. So it might be smart to date someone closer to your age. I am sure your parents wouldn't like the idea of him being 18. Good luck! [ Ashley1's advice column | Ask Ashley1 A Question ]
craazylau answered Saturday May 14 2005, 9:53 am: Yes you're underage to have a sexual relationship with him and you will be underage until you turn 18. This is if you're talking about sex. Whether you're underage to have a non sexual relationship with him is a different matter but probably not a very good idea! All in all basically the law states that it is illegal to have a sexual relationship if you are under 18 in the USA. So therefore you are underage for him! trombonekatie answered Saturday May 14 2005, 2:08 am: Well, your question is very circumstantial--legally, yes you are "underage", because as an 18 year old, he is a legal adult, and as a 15 year old, you're still a minor. So, basically, yes, you are underage for this guy until you turn 18, yourself.
Aside from the legal issues presented--there are some moral issues. Are you at the same level of maturity to be in a relationship with this guy? If you can't honestly say that you are, you're probably too young for him. In most cases, 15 year olds and 18 year olds are a little too large of a teenage gap for you to honestly relate and maintain a healthy relationship--however, there are always some exceptions.
Justine answered Saturday May 14 2005, 1:53 am: Technically he's an adult, your a minor.
MFS did a pretty good job of explaining it.
It depends on where you are. I know in NY you have to be 17 to "legally" have sex with someone of your own age or older.
Though any sexual act under the age of 18 could be statory rape. Charges could be pressed.
Until your 18, technically you'll be under age.
I'm a little iffy.
Hope I cleared up something that was bugging you. =)
karenR answered Saturday May 14 2005, 1:13 am: 18 is "of age". Yes he can get in trouble for dating you. Statutory rape, contributing to the deliquency of a minor...any number of fun crimes. Not a good idea if you really like the guy because even though MFS is absolutley correct that it is okay if you don't have sex...we all know it can happen before you think about it. If mom and dad don't like it they can cause a problem with it to. Sorry, just my opinion. :) [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]
MFS answered Saturday May 14 2005, 1:03 am: the laws that govern statutory rape and such situations vary from state to state.. basically, non-sexual conduct is perfectly legal between a minor and a legal adult. It is only an issue when sex comes into play. There are legal limits set that govern at what age consent can be given and who it can be given to. This age of consent and how it works varies from state to state within the US, and from nation to nation around the world. There is no one standard to use.
