Question Posted Thursday April 28 2005, 6:08 pm

My 9 year old cousin is coming up tommorrow. Any ideas on how to amuse her for a few hours? I was thinking maybe giving her a little makeover, or something.

well if she is a girly girl a making over would be fun and you can have her dress up and do a little like photoshoot or something. You guys can also go to a park and play or go have some ice cream. you can also watch a movie together or play some card games or something

Stick her/him in a tub of scolding hot water. Watch his/her red ass haul it outta the tub to the local burned victim facility in town.

Bring a camera so you can get some pics up on the net!

A makeoveR is an excellent idea, actually. HoweveR, would heR paRents be upset at the idea of that? Even if it's only foR a couple houRs of enteRtainment, when some paRents say theiR child can't weaR make up.. they usually cRinge at the idea of a play makeoveR -- So, peRhaps you ought to check with heR paRents foR theiR appRoval. You could also tRy taking a bunch of pictuRes; that'd be a lot of fun. How about painting? And if you dRive oR have a way to get out, you could always go see a movie, oR Rent movies if you must stay in. I'm shoRe she'd also appReciate some fun comfoRting foods, such as pizza, ice cReam, and so on. HeRe's anotheR one foR ya... take walkie talkies and go in diffeRent Rooms... pRetending you'Re undeRcoveR policemen on some soRt of top secRet mission!! My bRotheRs and I did that just last yeaR [16, 18, & 26 =D] No it won't seem childish, it'll just be a good time, and if you don't have walkie talkies... tRy coRdless phones, that's what we did, and it Rocked!! You could also play papeR games.. such as that little foRtune thing you move with youR fingeRs, and "MASH", and you could even have a contest to see whose papeR air plane goes the fuRthest!! Bottom line, I wouldn't woRRie so much about being stupid oR immatuRe, as long as it's fun, who caRes! Just be open to suggestions, and go with the flow! Goodluck! Hope this helps!! =D

Games are always good. A makeover sounds good as well. But ask her what she wants to do, she'll probably have an idea or two of her own. ;)

Giving her a little makeover will be great because my little sister loves is when I give her a makeover. You can also play games with her, watch a movie or two that she likes, go outside and play (if it's warm out), and you can do crafts and such. Just think what you liked to do when you were 9 years old and that will help.

JazzY answered Thursday April 28 2005, 7:09 pm:
Hey, the makeover sounds like a fun idea. You guys could make up a story, one of those where you write one sentence and she writes the next. Then staple it together and make illustrations. You could also play fun games like Guess Who and Sorry. You could make bracelets too and picture frames. Cool things like that. You could also watch movies and T.V. together. Maybe even play sports like basketball and softball or something.
Just try to remember the stuff you did when you were nine. Maybe that will help you think of some fun ideas too. Hope I helped!

At that age, crafts are awesome! Something like making friendship bracelets, or hemp, or try beading. There are lots of cool kits out there, or just get supplies if you know a little bit about what you're doing (or already have stuff of your own).

Board games are also a great tool. I do like the makeover idea, but make sure you don't go make-up crazy, and check with your aunt first- also, be careful about allergies, some people have sensitive skin. But stuff like painting her nails and french-braiding and other hair play is awesome!

If she's anything like my nine-year-old cousin...play video games. No nine-year-old cares about her appearance, and you definitely do not want to encourage slutty-ness at such a young age.

Yeah the makeover thing definately sounds like a good idea! My little cousin likes going for walks; so maybe try that. If you live near the woods like i do, a nature walk would be cool.
Tell her to bring her barbies or something...i know i was into babrbies at that age. You guys could play with them together. Twister, monopoly, video games, movies, etc are good ideas to try.
