Am I weird?
I am a 13 year old girl and in 7th grade. I would describe my clothes style as preppy. However, the music I normally listen to is (in my opinion, I really don't know) far from preppy. I listen to bands like Green Day, The Killers, Linkin Park, and Evanesence (I don't think I spelled that right). I was just wondering if anyone thought this was weird. I can listen to some "preppy" music (a.k.a- stuff you would find on TRL) but most of it really bugs me, because it doesn't soud like they are the people singing. Again, does anyone think that this is odd? Sorry for the length, but I was just wondering! Thanks in advance to all that reply!

No! You're being yourself, which is perfect! Way to go! Most kids are just conforming to what their friends like, but you are looking at all your options and deciding what you like. Very wise for a 13 year old.

Who cares? Seriously it's just music. I shop at American Eagle and dress like a girly girl but I listen to like Slipknot and hard core punk/screamo bands. It's not weird at all. It's just music. The type of music you listen to shouldn't have to match your style of clothing.

No matter what music you listen to, you are not wierd!! Im like the same way. One time i want to listen to Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears, and then a second later im hooked on greenday or the killers, sometimes even Metallica. And yes you spelled evanescence right. Remember, you are not wierd. You just like cool music and cool threads!

i dont think that just b/c you listen to a certain kind of music you have to dress like the people that play the music. be yourself. dress the way you want. listen to the music you wanna.

Not at all. Your clothes do not have to match what you wear. It isn't an accessory it's your style. I have many friends who dress normaly (T-shirt of a band etc. etc. jeans), but LOVE emo music. It's just how you express yourself through lyrics, and your clothes express you through fashion. Two different things, two different stories..

well i hate to say this but "preppy" is not a type of music. trl doesnt play "preppy" music it has some of the bands you said you liked on the countdown all the time. Prep is a label not music. please dont confuse the two. and no it is not odd you can listen to whatever music you want.

That's definitely not odd at all. I'm basically the same as you, except I'm 14 and in the 8th grade. I love alternative rock and emo/screamo/punk music and I'm a "prep." So as you see, you aren't the only one out there and this isn't odd or weird at all.
