I have a problem my dog, just recently died and so we got a new puppy Razberry. But as he has gotten older he has become vicious. I just go into the backyard to try to play with him after school and i throw a ball or two. Then I go check if he needs more water in his bowl or not. But then out of the blew he jumps up bites me really hard in the back then I turn around and he bites me in the leg which leaves a scratch and a popping out bruise. Then i try to get away from him and out of the backyard but he keeps biting me. This has been happening for a while now and I dont know what to do to make him stop. I love my puppy and I dont want to give him away. He can be soo sweet to me and i can just tell in his eyes that he loves me too. I think he is just trying to play but doesn't know when to stop. I just would like any suggestions on something I could do to understand that biting me like that is wrong and it hurts. I have tried disciplining him but then he becomes more vicious and bites more. Please help me!
thnx a bunch!

DancinCutie08 answered Friday July 8 2005, 12:57 pm: we sorta have the same prob with our dog. ours is 4monthes old and shes really mean but most young dogs dont understand what they are doing. thats how they played with their brotheres and sister most if not all dogs grow out of that with guideance. try time outs for short periods of time in their cage and try puppy class too. puppy dont like to be told what to do and they will keep being mean until they figure out they cant. try it spray its called fooey you can get it at petco and its a bitter spray that u spray in their mouth when they bite you. it really works after a while. Your going to have to be mean for the dog to learn. also if the bite like you leg dont keep putting it up and down because they think you are playing just put your leg in the air and keep it there until you are away from the dog. also make sure you cuddle with them or else they will become to independent to train remeber they are only a baby and they do love you [ DancinCutie08's advice column | Ask DancinCutie08 A Question ]
R-unit answered Thursday May 12 2005, 6:06 pm: all dogs do this sometimes the best thing to do is hit the dog in the nose with like a newpaper.... i know this seems a little mean but it helps and when you do it say no!!! and everytime he does it again just hit him with a newpaper or ur hand and say no... then after a week and if he didnt go to bite you say good girl/boy...........

Sweetlittleree answered Saturday April 23 2005, 2:10 pm: Hmm when my old dog did that we normally would start to play vicious games with him. My dad would hit him (not hard) on the jaws and he'd try to bite back. Maybe you should try that, but be careful doing that. When he bites you try yelling at him tell him that it is bad to bite, if he does it again then hit him in the nose and lock him outside for a nite.
One thing is sure though, puppies will be violent and you can't get them to stop being violent, it just doesn't happen. You have to find something that will let him release his anger and energy. Try getting a squeeky toy or a bone let him bite on those.
confusedbabii answered Saturday April 23 2005, 1:48 pm: since he is a puppy, did you ever think that he might be teething? get him a chew toy, or go to the pet store and ask which toys are best for teething puppies? hope i helped!
ad0rkable answered Saturday April 23 2005, 12:58 pm: Take him into a place like PetsMart. They have training and you can explain what you want them to help with. In this case biting. If that's not an option, I'd say you'd better get used to having no dog. You could give him to one of your friends though, so you could still see him.
soccerchic24 answered Friday April 22 2005, 7:06 pm: Well, you need to show the dog who's boss! when you go in the yard,if he bites you, smack him! If he keeps biting you, keep smacking him! When you go in the yard and he doesn't bite you give him a treat! Dog's luv treats! (Or you could just take him to a dog trainer! :)~)
ShYbl0nD3 answered Thursday April 21 2005, 12:28 am: make sure the dawg is trained well, but you also have to show the dawg whos boss. The way you stand look at him/her move ar wayz to make your self look more powerful. Especially if it's a male dawg, they always have fight for whos leading in the wild and its just instict so if you look more powerful and act more powerful he/she should leave you alone and not bite.
good luck!
