ok well i got fish along time ago..and everytime my mom cleans out the aquarium one of the fish die! idk if their used to the new water or not but my baby shark that ive had for like a year now just died :( how can i stop this from happening?
Saynotogymclass answered Wednesday April 20 2005, 5:02 pm: My fish always died too. I've probably killed 20 in my life. Anyway... have you tried using those vitamins that you put in the water? Maybe the ammonia is not normal. When you clean the tank do a 3/4 change so the fish don't have completely new water. It'll be easier for them to get used to it.
xObEaChbAbEoX answered Wednesday April 20 2005, 12:15 pm: well first of all you have to make sure that the fish are not in tap water but bottled water when your cleaning the cage. also make sure the water isnt hot or else your fish will fry. thats all i have good luck and i hope your other fish are okay [ xObEaChbAbEoX's advice column | Ask xObEaChbAbEoX A Question ]
xxBrOkEnxx answered Wednesday April 20 2005, 12:12 pm: one of your fish could have got like a disease and gave it to the others and so i would stop and just let them die,i know odd but either way their going to die and then clean it really good and get new ones.or it could be the cleaners that your mom is using,so wash the cleaners really well [ xxBrOkEnxx's advice column | Ask xxBrOkEnxx A Question ]
montrealfan answered Tuesday April 19 2005, 10:40 pm: well fish often don't even live to a year. you could get a siemese fighting fish. they come in a variety of colors and last about a year.(just like ipods!...joke...the ipods part.) although siemese fighting fish can only live by themselves. Stacey64 answered Tuesday April 19 2005, 9:49 pm: Okay i know how you feel. It has actually happened to me a couple times. Here are some steps:
1- Set out a place to put your fish in and leave it to set for 20 minutes so that the water can get room temperature.
2- Put your fish in the space on number one.
3-Clean your tank thoroughly
4- Put aquarium conditioner in the new, clean tank.
5- Let the fishes original tank set for 30 minutes
6- Put your fish back in the bowl and watch it for 5 minutes and see how it reacts.
7- Go do whatever u want! [ Stacey64's advice column | Ask Stacey64 A Question ]
*ashlee* answered Tuesday April 19 2005, 7:41 pm: they have bottles of stuff at the fish store..everytime you clean your fish tank, depending on how many gallons it is..you pour a certain amount of the "medicine" in it. everytime you clean your fish tank its somewhat of a shock to the fish, and the medicine instantly calms them down so that they dont overreact and..die. something like weed for fish. im surprised you werent informed of this when you purchased your fish. cUrLyHaiReDcUtiE16 answered Tuesday April 19 2005, 7:26 pm: i can only think of too possible answer for you right now they are that mabye the water temperature if too cold or warm for them aka try to change the water temperature or maybe you shouldnt clean the tank as often aka leave some of the algea and fungus there a little but longer
not_your_star34 answered Tuesday April 19 2005, 7:12 pm: Some fish need that chlorine-out stuff in their tanks. It takes the chlorine out of the water. Maybe the temperature of the water isn't right for the fish. Check for that. Also, make sure you have a filter. I'm also sorry about your baby shark. I hope I helped, and feel free to ask more questions!

o0xbrianna answered Tuesday April 19 2005, 7:11 pm: Maybe it is because they are soo used to the condition of the water. That is the only logical reason I can think of! Sorry about your shark. Hope I have helped.
LoveNJstyle answered Tuesday April 19 2005, 7:10 pm: it might be that the water's temperature is different or they need a different kind of water. try going to the pet shop you got them at or just any random pet shop and they can help with the specific kind of fish you have. good luck! <3 [ LoveNJstyle's advice column | Ask LoveNJstyle A Question ]
