I am 15 and 5'3 and 142 pounds..I used to be 112 when I was 12..I had gained 30 pounds :-x..I can't do sit ups for some reason or anything like that, I need to use my elbow to help me up. I have a breathing problem and I can't really run w/o having to stop and catch my breath every few yards. Is there anyways I can get to about 120 by summer?

He or she will know how best to help you. The best way of course is by cutting calories back and exercising daily. No matter what you do you won't lose wait by cutting calories alone. I mean it. When you cut calories too much your body enters a starvation mode in which it is actually harder to lose weight because your body actually converts everything it can to fat because it believes it won't be able to eat for a while.
As for diet crazes, many of the popular ones are unsound and can lead to dehydration, vitamin deficiencies, and organ damage. Likewise with diet pills, even simply caffeine, you risk heart attack, stroke, organ damage, and a plethora of other potential side effects. If you refuse to talk to you doctor, which many do, at least stay away from the stuff I listed. [ clotito's advice column | Ask clotito A Question ]

LiLJaZzY answered Sunday April 17 2005, 7:52 pm: well..you can do some kind of sport? like tennis or softball..or maybe even swimming because their all really fun sports that dont require alot of running but they do get you fit..you can also go on a diet but make sure its not one of those "not eating" ones because those arnt healthy and if you get to that point its ALOT harder to gain weight then to take it off..but yea you should probly try one of those or even both and if you find a sport you like you would take your mind off your body issues and actually into having fun..and if do at least 10 or 15 situps a night you will gradually get up to maybe 20 or 25..it just takes effort and motivation and a 13 year old girl usually has that..well good luck and let me know how it goes!! xox- <3 [ LiLJaZzY's advice column | Ask LiLJaZzY A Question ]
rainbowsend answered Sunday April 17 2005, 5:22 pm: 22 pounds is a pretty big weight loss goal, especially at such a young age. You'd be much better off just focusing on eating right and exercising than focusing merely on the pounds.
Eating right can be a challenge if you're not used to it. Cut out extra snacks and junk food, and try to eat lots of vegetables, fruits, and whole grains. Ask your parents to help by buying healthy snacks from the grocery store for you instead of junk food snacks, and offer to help make some healthy recipes.
Exercising sounds like something that will be a challenge for you... but you don't have to start out huge! If running is too hard, try walking. Swimming, biking, and rollerblading are also great cardio activities. Dancing is good too. You could try something low-intensity like yoga or pilates. Anything is better than nothing- so find some sort of active activity that you like and can do without hurting yourself, and make it part of your routine. You should be getting some sort of cardio activity every day- about 30 minutes 5-6 days a week.
Maybe you should consider talking to your doctor. See if she thinks you're overweight for your age and height, and she'll also be able to give you tips as to how to lose weight the healthy way.
Also, it IS normal to gain weight as you go through puberty. I'm 19 and one of my "skinny" friends is 135 pounds. So don't expect that you'd be 112 pounds forever- it's just not going to happen for most people. [ rainbowsend's advice column | Ask rainbowsend A Question ]

x3bEstOfmEx answered Sunday April 17 2005, 1:46 pm: start eating healthier and do as much working out as your body will let you do i dont think you will loose all that weight by the summer but you will loose some! try taking out all the fats and sweets that you might be eating and eat more healthier foods! o0xbrianna answered Sunday April 17 2005, 12:05 pm: Sweatheart, there is no way in hell that you will lose 22 pounds in like a month. It is healthy to lose 2-3 pounds a week, no more than that. I would just suggest you cut back on the snacks and start eating more meat (it works) and eat more fruits and vegetables! Start out slow with your exercises too, try weight lifting. Good luck!
xxxxxx answered Sunday April 17 2005, 11:22 am: this is what i did, and i lost like 10 pounds last year! start out really slow, like powerwalking. even if you cant jog/run fast, the key is = stay moving for 30-60 minutes, dont stop! even if youre just walking. you burn calorlies that way. so set out a goal to walk say 1-2 miles every OTHER day... and keep up a constant pace. then you'll get better at it. xoJoElenox answered Sunday April 17 2005, 11:02 am: first of all what kinds of food are you eating? if your eating junk food then thats your problem! if you are then try to either cut it all out completely or really slim down on the junk food, and eat healthy foods, like fruits and veggies and plenty of water! excersing is also a great way to boost your metablisiom (dont know if i spelt that right) which helpes digest your food faster, and dont be set on that you need to lose weight, being your age and 5'3 and 142 lbs isnt bad for 15, so dont put bad things in your head! remember be positive, and you'll do whatever you want to accomplish! Hope i helped, ask me anytime!

Karen answered Sunday April 17 2005, 10:40 am: The only other way to lose about 20 pounds by the summer without exercising that much, since you have breathing problems, is to eat healthy. Eating healthy and watching how much food you take in is very important when wanting to lose weight.
Is your metabolism slow? If it is, then you can make it faster by confusing your body which will make you lose weight faster. Tomorrow, for example, you can eat 5 small meals throughout the day, that are healthy, and the next day, you can eat your regular 3 meals that are healthy, and keep on doing this until summer comes.
Why don't you go on some diet such as a low carbohyrdate diet? You will lose weight very quickly going on this diet. Just don't eat anything that has a lot of carbohydrates in it )but you still need to eat a little bit of foods that have carbohydrates, since they give your body energy.)
If you do lose weight and if you notice that you have extra skin on your body, you need to do exercises that will tone those parts of your body that have that extra skin. Check out [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) for exercises.
You can lose weight, you just need to tell yourself that you have to.
therocketsummer answered Sunday April 17 2005, 10:29 am: If you cannot do sit-ups, that might be a huge problem. Losing weight requires eating right as well. Eat good and healthy and that will help speding the pounds.
For exersices you can go to wwww.toneteen.com, they've got a lot of exzercises for your arms, legs, and stomach. Everything you need to know to lose poundsd.
