sunburn

Question Posted Tuesday April 5 2005, 1:09 am

i went to the beach last weekend and got VERY sunburned. my right leg and foot are swollen and hurt very badly, and i have to drive for 2 hours tomorrow. Any way to take down the swelling from my burn on saturday, or to help the burn heal faster? (i've already used aloe multiple times) thanks!

this may sound silly but try putting mustard on it. It really works. stay away from ice though cause that makes it worse by blistering it. Good luck

I don't know how fast it will heal but, take a cool bath with baking soda or cider vinegar in it to help relieve the pain.

If you get any fever, chills or nausea see your doctor.

Lots of ice! Put your aloe in the fridge for a while before you put it on, it feels a lot better. You can also try a Vitamin E cream, a cool bath with 1/2 cup of baking soda, or a calendula cream. Look at this site for more ideas: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

try ice. it should help to bring the swelling down. but wrap it in a thin towel, or a t-shirt. and keep applying aloe

You could put a little bit of lemon juice straight on to your skin, or soak a flannel in cold tea and place it over the affected area for instant relief. If it's really bad, you know, the kind that keeps you awake all night, and tow tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda to your bath. Mash an avocado and apply it to the affected area. Grate up some potatoes and put them ont he burn - the starch soothes the burn. Mud or clay (the cosmetic kind) can help to ease the stinging.
I think moisturising, or buying some 'after-sun lotion' would probably help too.
(Seriously...all that above stuff works. It's home remedies and stuff, but it does all work).

you put tons and tons of ice on it. nothing warm or nething else like aloe. it wont help. ice is the only way to go for that.
