Karen answered Tuesday March 22 2005, 6:21 pm: To prevent from getting a sun burn when you are in a tanning bed, start off tanning for a few minutes then gradually increase the time you tan each time you go in a tanning bed. You can also wear lotion too.

amsybethers914 answered Tuesday March 22 2005, 6:01 pm: well...i myself lay in my grandma's tanning bed a lot i lay for up to 27 minutes at a time BUT i doo nott think that you should start with anymore than 10 minutes at a time..once your used to the 10 minutes work your way up to fifteen and if thats not good enough for you try 17 and work your way to 20. I don't really suggest that you lay more than 20, i only lay 27 because i have really dark skin already... [ amsybethers914's advice column | Ask amsybethers914 A Question ]

First of all, if you go out into the sun without any sunblock on, how long does it take you to burn? If LESS than an hour, you want to go three minutes for like three times. If more than an hour, start out with five minutes, then do that three times. If after three sessions of five minutes you didn't turn pink at all, try seven mins. Basically, go up in 2-3 min. increments if you're not turning even the lightest shade of pink. Do not wear sunblock in the tanning bed, it defeats the whole purpose. By going slow, then increasing by a few mins. each time, the melons in your skin get used to the tanning, & that's why eventually you can go for twenty mins. without burning. Ask the salon you goto for the best lotion for you. [ x0xhollisterrr's advice column | Ask x0xhollisterrr A Question ]
jbdreamer answered Tuesday March 22 2005, 5:00 pm: You have to start out slow. If it is your first time, 5 minutes is plently. And then you gradually add on to that. Also ask at the salon what they recommend. [ jbdreamer's advice column | Ask jbdreamer A Question ]
n0t3arz4u answered Tuesday March 22 2005, 4:55 pm: Tanning beds can be REALLY dangerous if you don't use them correctly. Put on plenty of sun tan lotion to protect your skin and don't stay in long. Burns cause skin cancer so watch time as you get tans. [ n0t3arz4u's advice column | Ask n0t3arz4u A Question ]
