hey! okay, today i went tanning for the frist time. i went in a medium ed for 10 minutes, and used the special lotion they give you. i came home tonight, more than 6 hours later, and took a shower. just one certain spot on me is red, actually 2. it's normally where i get sunburn. could i have possibly gotten sunburn , or is it like an allergic reaction to the lotion? i don't think it's the lotion, since wouldn't i have gotten taht all over my body? just wondering if it is sunburn how can i prevent it next time and put anything on it to make it go away? thanks!
vbkilla answered Wednesday March 23 2005, 12:15 pm: yeah, it is sun burn, well probably. I got burnt pretty severly the first few times i went, so it can happen. try a regular bed for a while, then ease into going longer, and in stronger beds, be patient though, let your body adjust.
_eMiLy answered Tuesday March 22 2005, 1:10 pm: It doesn't sound like an allergic reaction. It could just be a burn.
I don't know if you've ever had sunburn before but if you have you should know how it feels, right?
If it doesn't feel how it normally does then you should go to a pharmacy if you don't really want to go to a doctor.
If you go to a pharmacy you could show them where one of the red patches is and see what they make of it then they could give you aftersun or whatever lotion if it's an allergic reaction.

Ihrtmn answered Tuesday March 22 2005, 2:10 am: Tanning for the first time will sometimes give you an allergic reaction. So that could def. be it. Try again and see what happens. Did you possibly have a birth mark, or lighter skin on that part? Try putting aloe, or cocoa butter on it!! =) That helped me...I just had an awful experience when tanning! lol. Hope this helps!! <3 [ Ihrtmn's advice column | Ask Ihrtmn A Question ]
karenR answered Tuesday March 22 2005, 12:36 am: If it was an allergic reaction you would have a rash or blisters all over. You can indeed get sunburn from tanning booth even though they won't mention it to you.
Treat it as you would any sunburn. Try some aloe lotion. You might ask them how to prevent it next time you go in. Explain what happened. [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]
KaTiE_LyNn answered Tuesday March 22 2005, 12:13 am: well since it`s your first time, you have to expect crazy reactions. my stomach and 2 places on my back turned PINK and itched like crazy. different bodies react different ways. i wouldn`t be too worried about it. there really isn`t a way to prevent it unless you put block on those certain spots. but you really just need to deal with the pain because your body will get used to it after a while and it will stop happening. *sigh* the pains of being beautiful.
