Cell phone

Question Posted Monday March 21 2005, 3:39 pm

I was babysitting at a place over an hour away (I was spending the night there too), and I was charging my cell before I left, and I guess I forgot it was on and charging, so I had left it at home when I left (accidentaly) and it was charging until about noon the next day... maybe later, so if I estimated it would have been from 4p.m to maybe 12:30p.m, not quite 24 hours, but about 3 and a half hours less.

2 questions...
Is it bad to leave you cell on when you're charging (my cell will still charge)
And is it bad to keep it charging for so long (even if it was on accident) Thanks!

Additional info, added Wednesday March 23 2005, 4:45 pm:
It's a motorola, and I've had it for maybe 2, not even 3 weeks..

well, i usually leave mine on when charging, and charge it over night

the only thing is, if it starts to be going really slow, turn it off then on again, but its not bad, all it means is that it hasnt been turned off in a while, and it needs to be turned off then on again!

Well I dont know for sure, but I think it's fine. I've had my cell since christmas, and I usually keep it in the charger whenever I'm home. And almost always overnight. It functions just fine, and the battery still charges and stays charged for as long as it did when i first got it. I dont think any harm was done, but if you want a professional opinion ask anyone at radio shack or at your cell phone store! Hope this reassures you!

1. No its not bad to leave your cell phone on while its charging. It does take longer for its battery to be full charged, but in the end it will charge just the same.

2. If your charging your cell phone for four or five days straight then its bad. I believe you cell phone was charging for about 20 1/2 hours and that its dangerous at all. If you have an older battery (which you dont because it will still charge) you are more at risk to having it fail later. I hope I helped.

P.S.- I think you may be able to get a little better information if you included the model and year of your cell phone.

1.)There's nothing wrong with leaving your cell on while charging, it doesn't affect how fast it will charge.

2.)Charging for too long wont hurt it, with my phone it automatically stops charging once its charged completely.

1) It's perfectly fine. Your cell phone will still charge if it's turned on. =D
2) It's actually fine to keep it charging for so long. It automatically stops charging beyond a certain point. I've done the same many times... with cell phones... digital cameras... and so on, and it had no effect on them.

no... I think that would be good for your phone if anything.. Your phone can't overload with energy.. xD but an interesting question though that woke me up a little.

It wears your battery down alot quicker, but that was only one incident, so you shouldn't do that, I do that sometimes though, so we're both in the wrong *lol*. But just be careful.

Karen answered Monday March 21 2005, 4:08 pm:
For your questions, the answer to both of them is no. If you leave your cell phone on while it's being charged is not bad at all, it's just that your phone is working twice as hard to charge your phone, since it's on. Your phone battery may be warm but that's alright. If you charge your cell phone for a long time, it will automatically stop charging when your battery is full.

The answer to both of your questions is no. The only thing that will happen to your phone if you keep it charging for so long is that the battery will get warm and that's about it. The only thing that's bad to do is to charge your phone while you're talking on it because then it's working twice as hard and it gets VERY hot and it might even burn you're face (happened to me). You're phone will be fine, nothing to worry about at all! Hope this helped.

1 - no its not bad to keep it on while its charging..it doesnt really make a difference lol. im actually normally using mine while its charging hah.

2 - yes it is bad for it to charge THAT long...you should take it off the charger as soon as it finishes. it makes your phone die faster if its always charging, even if it was on accident. (i know this because it happened to my moms old phone) wether it was an accident or on purpose, your phone doesnt know the difference ;)

1) No, I always leave mine on while charging incase someone calls and if it was bad for your cell the company that made it wouldn't of made it so it still charges while it's on =P

2) Not that I know of, I sometimes forget about it for up to a week and leave it on charge all that time and my cell is great and it automaticly stops charging when the battery is full.

Hope I helped
