Kittens My cat had kittens 7 weeks ago and has just been spayed. I have kept 3 of the kittens and have been told by the vet not to let her feed the kittens as her milk has dried up.
This is prooving very difficult as she keeps calling them to be fed and they feed of her, i am concerned that her milk flow will start again.
Please can you advise me how to stop this without seperating them altogether.
Thank-you

umm, take a tiny wash cloth, twirl it to a tip(like the mothers niple) and dip it in milk, this will make the kittens think it is there momo, then put the mom in another room! ]
If you can't be around them and watch over them, and make sure that the mother cat is not letting them suckle, then you need to seperate them.
Seriously, less than 50% of people actually do what their Vet tells them to do, and this can lead to problems and reaccuring visits by their animals. People are also not likely to ask more questions for fear of sounding stupid. Don't be afraid that your going to sound stupid. The people at your Veterinarians office are trained to handle every situation that comes up with your pets. Use their expertise and give them a call when you have a problem.
Animals are usually seperated from their mothers at 8 weeks, since your kittens are 7 weeks, and they're already eating solid food, then I'm going to assume that they're quite old enough to be on their own.
If you end up seperating them, then keep all of the kittens together. The mother cat will most likely be upset, but will be much happier over all. Spaying can be quite painful, and I'm sure the kittens suckleing are making it even worse.
But, let them be together when you are able to watch them and stop the kittens from suckling. ]
They will do this for awile. Her milk won't come back. The only way to stop them is to totally seperate them.Since that isn't always possible they will just do it for awhile.Sooner or later they will bite her a good one and she will stop. ]
i'm not really positive, but what you will have to do is start feeding the kittens your self and soon they will come to you when ready to be fed. Also make sure that the mother does not start her milk flow again. If my advise doesnt work talk to your vet and i'm sure he'll know what to do! ]
Well, you could make it so they can't get to her milk, and still not separating them... I know it sounds kind of silly, but what if you got one of those shirts that little dogs wear? If she wore one, than her kittens would not be able to feed from her, and you wouldn't have to keep them apart. Well, I hoped that helped a little, good luck and if you try that, let me know how it works! ]
