sing through your throat, pic songs that are more broadway aimed peices so that eventually your voice will naturally ajust to it. Also listen to loud singers on like a radio or on a player and sing along to it!!

stand up straight, take a deep breath, keep your head straight and your shoulders back. Sing with all of your breath support from your stomach. Even when you have to sing in your "head voice" keep those muscles tight, and your sound will be more forward instead of spreading.
Best of Luck,

Open your mouth wider, and make sure you use all of the breath in your diaphrgm, but be careful not to sound too breathy, but I'm sure you know that.

The first thing to remember is you should NEVER feel like you're yelling when you sing. Belting can hurt your voice permanently (in the long run).
The second thing to remember is loud doesn't always mean good.
Thirdly, breathing right and singing louder doesn't always take a couple of weeks. It took me a month and I learn REALLY fast. Heck, I'm still learning.
Okay. Now, as for projecting, I used to have the same problem, too, especially with my speaking voice. I felt like I had to scream to be heard.
First, set up your posture. Bring your shoulders up to your earlobes, push them back, and then push them down while pulling back. Your ribcage should feel lifted/really open. Lock in that feeling. If it helps, put your arms or hands under the bottoms of your ribs to remind yourself to keep that open. That's your singer's book. NEVER let it close.
When you breathe, feel like you're yawning. Your stomach should move, but not your shoulders.
You might practice by laying on the ground with your knees up like you're about to do sit ups, with your arms at your sides. Put a heavy book on your stomach, and inhale to see if you can knock it off.
My old choir teacher did that with us, and it worked really well.
Once you've mastered the breathing technique...(which you may not, in the time you need, but it's okay. They'll see that you're still learning. No one expects anyone in school to be perfect.)
Projecting. I think of filling the room with my voice, and if it's a small room, I think of filling the whole building with my voice. But don't yell.
Use all that air you've yawned in, and send it all rushing out. Let the air control the pitch. As you go higher, think like you're going down. It'll keep everything in place and keep everything in pitch.
Don't be afraid to use your air. For awhile, lose control of the notes if you have to and just practice using more air.
If you can spin the sound (vibrato, if you have it - if you don't, don't create it. Let it happen), it helps. But if you can't, don't worry about it.
However, if you're serious about singing, I suggest you talk to your choir director. He or she may be able to help you a little better than we can.
If you'd like anything here explained a little more clearly...lol...feel free to IM me at anytime. I'm going onto vocal performance in college, so this is my life.
I hope this helps, and good luck with the judges!

i had (and sometimes still do) have a smiliar problem. In order to get a sound out (of the trombone for me, your voice for you), you have to use lots of air!!!! Just take the deepest breatht that you can, and belt it out (in tune of course). Pretend that the judges are sitting really far away from you, and that in order for them to hear you, you have to sing really loud!!! Just practice singing loudly as often as you can. Hope I helped!!

I'm the exact same way. Remember to project. You want to pretend your voice is hitting the back wall... and pretend there no one but you in the room. If you need anything else, send me something. Kristen
