Rubbing Alcohol! That's it! My son got permanent marker on my wood table and I used rubbing alcohol. You have to scrub a little (with something soft like a cotton ball) but it will come out. Then you may notice that the surface you just cleaned is turning white. Don't panic, that's just the finish on the wood. You will need to wipe off the excess alcohol, let the surface dry and then finish it with with Old English. Not the kind used for dusting (like pledge), use the liquid scratch remover kind. Works like a dream!

Hope this works!

I'm not sure that the rubbing alcohol will work, but if it does, you will need to put the polish/wax back on the table. I'm assuming that by "finished wood table" you mean real wood with a wax polish.

Permanant marker comes off with SOMETHING!! Get some soap, a rag that you wont mind getting permanant stains on, and soak the rag and wash it! And while you're at it, take that marker away from your lil bro, he might put it on something else ;] hope I helped!

Well, one time, I got permanent marker on my desk and my friend got it off easily with one of those click erasers. If you don't have one, try goo-gone, we have that and it works really good. Good luck!
Hope I helped!
