Calling all Wiccans and Atheists

Question Posted Wednesday February 9 2005, 5:35 pm

I give advice on this site, and yes, I'm also a Wiccan, almost on the verge of being an atheist and lately there has been someone harrassing me about my faith, she has left 2 messages so far in my inbox, about God, and I've given her actual proof about why I don't beleive in God like that. What I wanted to know is, have I been the only one getting messages like that? Thanks.

Oh Pumpkin! Walking the path of Wicca is one of the most difficult paths to walk. Wicca is definatly not a religion for anyone, especially with the ridicule many of us face. We need to be strong though. But I just want you to know that you are not the only one who has been harrassed. So don't feel singled out.

I was told by the Vice-Principal of our 99% Mormon school to take of my pentacle because 'We dont worship the devil here'. I calmly replied with,"Have you heard of the first amendment? I have the freedom to express myself." He then asked if I heard of seperation-of-church-and-state. I got a little more upset, and told him that he wasn't doing a good job of that, as he offers mormon classes as credits, has a mormon school/church on school grounds, and allowed students to try to convert others in the hallways. He didn't know what to say, but still told me to take off my necklace. So I hottly remarked,"M'kay... well... I'll make a deal with you. I'll take off my necklace, if you take off every CTR ring, and cross necklace in this school." He was so upset, he didn't say anything, and just left. He always managed to steal Wiccan books from my friends(which I let them borrow). And I was constantly called into his office, where he said that he should keep them. I told him he'd need to pay me $30 for the book then. And I explained my friends situation, that there was no homework, and the teacher was at her desk, and there were other students doing non-school related activities as well, and so the book should not have been taken. He always got mad at me... he got his revenge on one of the last days of school by giving me In School Suspension when I skipped on Senior Skip Day. I proudly wore my necklace to graduation to show it off to him.

I guess the moral of my story is, that you need to keep strong to your beliefs, and don't let anyone sway you. They are just niave and scared... and they don't know anything. The best one can try to do is explain your views to them in a polite and mature manner, and if they resort to petty sqabbling with you just ignore them. Dont give up your beliefs just because some idiot wants to harrass you. If every witch gave up so easily, then there would be none.

I don't know the exact situation but I'd just like to apologize for what this person has been doing to you. I am a Christian and I don't believe in shoving Christianity down peoples throats. That's the totally wrong way to go about it. I'm sorry.

No. Even though I am not a wiccan my best friend is. She gives advice on this site and someone left a message in her inbox saying "wicca is bad, you should choose Jesus." I love Jesus and I am religious, but I hate when people harass her. Wiccans can believe in God and be religious, and she is. It's her faith and she shouldn't be discriminated and neither should you or anyone else with a different religion. I know people have different opinions and I agree with that but sometimes it can come out the wrong way. Peace and Blessings.

I see that the person doing this has been banned. Good! Who are they to tell you you're wrong? The fact that anyone can possibly think that their beliefs are true and no one else's are, is horrible.

Keep whatever faith you want. No one can tell you that you are wrong, because in reality, probably none of us are right.

I myself am a Christian, but to answer your question, yes a lot of people get a lot of crap about what they believe in. I think everyone believes differently and has there opinions. Just ignore this girl.

If you feel someone is harrassing you, you can report them here:
[Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

You don't have to answer to anyone, and for her to push her religion on you is wrong.

*Don't worry, I just banned her. Apparently you were not the only one she was harassing.
