it takes about 10min. and it hurts while hes tightening them and after. and yes DEFINITLY take painkillers. ]
I know I'm a little late to answer, lol, but hopefully this might help for next time -
It doesn't hurt too much, although it will be pretty sore the next day, depending on how tight they are being made. It won't hurt any more than when you first had it done, anyway.
Clear do go the colour of your food, but only usually if you eat green stuff or have a strongly coloured mouthwash. Pink is a nice colour (pale) and pale pink and blue look really nice - almost silver - together. NEVER go for green or orange!! White make your teeth look yellow. Red stand out a lot but do make your teeth look very white. I have baby pink and I love them :) (Well, the colour, but definately not the wire, lol!!) Pastel colours are best.
Nurofen, advil, paracetamol etc, won't help because the braces are always on your teeth - they'll help a little but hardly any. Think of it as being hit in the head constantly with a hammer - if you take pain killers, the pain won't go away because the hammer is still there.
Pain will last a maximum of three days, I reckon...mine lasts for two and most people's only lasts a day. Drinking soup through a straw (or dunking crisps/chips in it) is a good food to eat when your teeth hurt, as are biscuits dunked in tea or coffee. Waffles (the potato kind) are good too :) Hang on in there!!
Blessed Be,

P.S. Can I do a bit of role-reversal and ask you a question here? Lol. Do your braces come lose a lot, like the wire at the back? Mine do all the time and it's really bugging me :S
Oooh, and ask your ortho/hygienist if you can have a special braces toothbrush if you don't already - they really help, as they are a lot softer than normal brushes and help to stop the wire coming off and stuff. ]
I don't think it hurts while they're tightening them, but your mouth does get a little sore afterwords. And about eating, lets just say after I got mine tightened, we went out for breakfast and I got a bacon egg and cheese buscuit that I was fine eating. The only reason you fell any so called pain is because your teeth are moving so of course it will be sore, but not until about an hour or so later (that's how it was for me) When you first got your braces on, quite a few hours you felt some pain? Well you'll feel less pain than that unless you aren't pain tolerent, then maybe it'll be a little more painful. My pain lasted for a few hours, but that's because I wouldn't shut up (I'm extremely talkative) and so it just wasn't helping. Don't get clear! Get like pink, or blue, those are pretty colors for braces!! Hope my answer isn't too late!! ]
Getting your braces tightened won't hurt as bad as you seem to think it will. It isn't supposed to hurt that badly when the orthodontist tightens them if he does it right. It's mostely after the tightening is done and your teeth start to shift that it REALLY hurts. You may consider only eating soup, icecream and other soft foods. ]
eh, it doesnt really hurt, you feel some tightness in your mouth but it wears off after like 1 to 2 min. Dont worry!

(i had braces too :P) ]
it hurts after they're tightened.. for me, it took a couple of days for the soreness to go away, and it does make it harder to eat certain foods. take advil when your teeth become sore. lighter colors are always good for braces.. i always get light blue or light pink.. dark colors look kinda gross.. hope i helped =) ]
take advil first and of corse you will be able to chew.. it takes like 1hr for the HOLE "experience" lol ..
hope u have fun

don't worry about it... its not all that bad, it might seem like it at first but think about everyone else that is going through it! just eat soft things for the first day.. then its pretty good from there.. ohh and if you get the chance use it as an excuse to get ice cream or something you don't get a lot! haha ]
okay well it does hurt a bit. but it's not as bad as getting them taken off!!! lol. you wont need to take advil before coz it aint that bad. you might need to after though. it changes. best not to have steak for dinner. :) just get some yoghurt or custard or something. it'll last a couple of days. dont worry too much. :) its not too bad. good luck!

It hurts after he tightens only about 2 days and take advil right after your done with the apointment and some times it hurts when he tightens them but just for a sec becuz he sometimes pulls hard you can eat for about 2 hours after you get them tighten but then it starts to hurt so you can eat like pudding and all so hope I helped and good luck and a very pretty color for ruber band is pink and green or orange and blue :) ]
for me, it didn`t hurt EVERY time i got them tightened, but yeah it did hurt a lot of the time. Take something before you go in, and it may hurt a few horus afterwards, but it doesnt hurt NEAR as bad as it does getting them on, and you`ll be able to eat and stuff..but it wont be too bad when you compare it to getting them on. It doesnt take long at all -- at my ortho i was hardly ever in there more than 15 minutes ]
My braces always gave me a headache about 2 hours after they were ajusted. take two or three advil right before you go in and you should be fine. ]
It will hurt a few hours after it is done and it will be enough that you will need to take a pain reliever. You will be able to chew food, but it will hurt some. It doesn't take long for them to be tightened. ]
It does hurt the first time, but here's what i do! take alieve 30 min. b4 your appt. it helps sooth most of the pain and it keeps it from coming after your appointment! hope this helps!!
