Trying to lose weight

Question Posted Friday January 21 2005, 9:48 am

Hi, I'm a 17 year old fmale and I'm trying to lose weight. I'm not overweight officially, I'm a size 12 (UK), but I do look really chunky next to my friends who are all like size 8/10. I've been dieting really hard for a fortnight and I walk 2 miles once and sometimes twice a day and do sit-ups every day but it's not working at all! I don't feel any better, no-one has commented and my clothes all fit the same. If it's really not having any effect then should I stick at it or try something more drastic? It's just I'm hungry all the time as it is and I'm always going faint or dizzy between meals so I'm not sure I'm eating enough anyway. Help me!! xxx

Dont run twice a day.. run once a day before dinner, so its already burning the food from lunch and then it burns the dinner faster, keep Hydrated, and do stretches.. and results take a month or so..

I think you should stop worrying and try to just be yourself, but if you really feel that bad then you should see a nutritionist or try a variation of diets until you find one that works for you. My sisters went through the same type of thing. Now, they still go back and forth between diets but they are more set and find that the diets they are on are really helping. Those specific diets are keeping my sisters from feeling like they need food all the time. Also you should keep excercising. That is really good for you. Hope I helped. GOOD LUCK.

Well first off starving yourself isnt going to do you good, its only going to make things worse. And you cannot expect results right away. Now some tips are that you can eat a lot you just have to watch what you eat, like a lot of protiene(sp) is good, or fruits, veggies. Another thing is maybe try to get your heart rate up a little higher when excercising, maybe run for those 2 miles or if that is too much run for only 1 mile but do it every second day or so, another suggestion is to make sure you sweat a lot, that is another way to lose the weight, but be cautious when trying to lose weight, always lose it in a good way, dont deprive your body of its nutrients that it needs, this is why you are getting drowsy, or dissy and feel light headed. It is also good to get a good nights sleep.

You HAVE to eat. Those "starve yourself" diets are never ever ever ever EVER going to help you. Try atkins! It really works and you can eat as much as you want, just as long as it doesnt have a lot of sugar or carbs!

You're doing awesome exercise. Stick it out and eat really healthy. It doesn't seem like you're losing anything but soon you will notice a big difference, I promise.
Good luck!

Heya,
If you're walking so much then you could be replacing fat with muscle, meaning that you weight the same. Although it does mean that you are burning stuff off way faster (even when you sleep)!
I'd eat regular, small meals or have healthy snacks (not fruit though, because that's really sugary...if you want something sweet, try low fat yoghurt) throughout the day rather than eating three big meals :)
Are you on any kind of offical diet (like, a named one such as the kellogs one when you eat cereal twice a day, or weight watchers or whatever?)? If you aren't, you might wanna try it because then you get an exact idea of what you should and shouldn't be eating.
Blessed Be,
Rach xxx
