Today my dog fell down the stairs, and she can't really walk. She can, but she falls over and stuff. She keeps throwing up flem and foam. We're taking her to the vet in a few hours. I was wondering, they won't have to put her to sleep right? Like, the worst they could do is give her fake legs?? Thanks =(

P.S If you do end up putting ur pet down I am very sorry for your loss then
JadedinNowhere answered Thursday January 13 2005, 10:48 pm: She probably has broken legs or something, or maybe she had some internal injuries (refering to the phlegm) even if she does die, we have to realize that all things die, most often the things we care most about. My dog had a heat stroke sort of things, and the neurological damage sort of screwed with her legs. We fed her chicken and rice because it was the only thing she would eat, and slowly we put dog food into it, She finally got better and her legs were much better now. Have hope. MummuM answered Thursday January 13 2005, 8:03 pm: I don't think she'll have to be put down. They might just give her something to help her legs out. My dog has bad legs too. That happened to her aswell, she didn't have to get put down or fake legs. She just got some pills and she was okay. I hope everything will be okay with your dog hun!

XSoul0ficeX answered Thursday January 13 2005, 4:16 pm: they probably wont put her to sleep, it sounds too severe for just falling down the stairs. like, if you fell down a mountain, do they kill you because they cant' cure you? [ XSoul0ficeX's advice column | Ask XSoul0ficeX A Question ]

Like if he's pretty old he won'thave a good a chance. If he's like 2-3 he might have a better chance of healing faster becuase his body is stronger. zapreth answered Thursday January 13 2005, 9:58 am: This sounds more like your pet has a concussion and a pierced lung from a broken rib or two. Depending on how bad her injuries are she could make a full recovery, but it will be extremely expensive. The worst thing about having an injured pet in this last case is can you afford treatment? With a human there is a legel obligation for care. A vet can refuse to treat your pet if you can't afford the treaments. Many times loved pets are put down not because they can't be healed, but because their owners can not afford to pay for the medical bills. Fake legs, would not be a good option in anycase. A three-legged dog can have a great life, and some dogs do well with both hind legs missing. I don't think that is the case here. Yes, she may have to be put down. Just pray she has no internal bleeding and that her lung does not collapse. If she requires surgery you may have some hard choices to make. I wish you luck, please let me know what happens. Big hug!
